Newk's Eatery — Restaurant in Nacogdoches

I thought I was going to get to leave a good report for this restaurant …

Unfortunately, I was wrong.

The restaurant is super clean, so there is that Cleanliness matters… more than food, and more than the service or atmosphere.

The situation slide downhill when the guy with the oily hair caught a real bad attitude with us when he brought our Lonestar Bisque soup to us. We asked if it had chunks of lobster in it because it looked like just orange cream sauce.

We went back to our meeting, but no one liked the Lobsterless Bisque. I purchased two more soups for the table.

The guy with the attitude came back later to let us know we had to leave because they were closing. I told him we would wrap up and leave.

It turned into a disaster when I snapped some quick pictures for the review. He got really upset. My buddy explained that I take pictures for the reviews almost everywhere we go.

He wasn’t happy that I was taking pictures for the review. He followed us outside taking pictures of us and our vehicles and our license plate as.

Sooooo, We asked who was the manager and he said it was him. We asked him for his name and he would not give it to us.

There was no reason for that kind of crazy.

We grabbed lunch with my Aunt while dropping my son off at his apartment. As you step in, there is a large sign with a QR code where you can grab a number and place your order via the internet. That is way more efficient than sitting in line. I am not sure if people are used to that in East Texas, as people would look at the sign and look confused. I told the folk glaring at the sign, "It is like ordering an Uber. All you need to do is order you food over the internet, easy peasy." You would have thought I was speaking Greek to them. I place my order on my phone and paid for it.

The server brought out our order very quickly. She was very sweet and polite. There was not an option where I could order a glass of water, as I do not drink sodas. She was nice enough to bring one over for me.

The Chipotle Caesar Shrimp Sandwich was amazing. The bread the perfect firmness. The shrimp had a nice tang to them. I only with there were more shrimp on the sandwich. The shrimp were also larger than you would get at many sit down restaurants I have been to. I had opted for the Chicken Gumbo soup, which was equally tasty. My son ordered chocolate cake for dessert. I am usually not a fan of chocolate cake with chocolate icing. This cake was not too sweet and hit the spot when you are craving dessert.

It’s pretty good. Chain sandwich shop. They frequently (once a month) add new menu items to keep things fresh. Personal pizzas are decent, sandwiches and salads are good portion, layered sheet cake not bad. I do like the free, assorted pickles and condiments bar. Not something most sandwich shops have. I would put them in the space between Jason’s Deli and McAllister’s deli as far as quality and price. Nice clean and spacious inside seating area with two small covered patios for outside seating.

Wait time while slow: Non Existant Peak time (Sunday lunch): 10-15 mins max

Accuracy:out of the 25 times or so I’ve eaten there they only messed up my order once and it was of course a ToGo order.

Menu: there’s A LOT going on here, don’t preferably care for the menu layout or how almost every item on it is pre ordained as if they’re positive they know you’ll love it dressed in the very specific way they have chosen.
