NanTaco — Restaurant in Nantucket

Ordered 4 tacos all different variety, the nachos with queso, wings, and churros. To start with the tacos, almost all the meat (ground beef, chorizo, chicken, and steak) were overwhelmingly under seasoned. I know opposite word choice to describe it, but that’s how the confusion was to eating them.

The nachos themselves were alright, with a slight aftertaste of a preservative similar to tacobell nachos. The cheese itself tasted processed, potentially from a can.(I didn’t confirm with the cooks about it)

With the wings, it felt as if they were made for smaller people more towards the 1 foot tall range. As the size of the wings were laughably small. Especially for the price. 2$ a wing. The saving grace was the marinade that they were sauced in other than that. Every bite was disappointment. Looked like frozen bought wings.

Lastly the churros, we’re standard. Glad I saved them at the end as it slightly made up for the rest of the meal. Unless I’m just the standout I’d understand. Other than that, will not be...

We got here hoping to enjoy the sunny day with a nice meal. When we sat down, we immediately noticed the 5 star rating in exchange for free churros, which was very suspicious and made me want to leave. After asking for some salsa on the side of our meal after seeing others get the same, we were told that it was already on the nachos (it wasn’t). The burrito I got was TINY (in a small fry basket) and was 19 DOLLARS. The nachos were 18 DOLLARS and also in a tiny basket. Unbelievable. To top it off, the burrito had CRUNCHY RICE (way undercooked) and very chewy steak. You could tell the food was precooked and frozen until ready to use. I had to use so much hot sauce on the shrimp that I headed to the bathroom immediately after. Fries were stale along with the nachos and the 2 cartons of water we got were 6 dollars. Had lunch two days in a row, both after surfing and each time it hit the spot. Food was delicious and staff was very friendly. The restaurant itself has an amazing vibe that is very welcoming. Starting from the inviting sign outside, to the vintage posters inside all over the wall. You really do feel as though you are ordering authentic Mexican food. My personal favorite dish is the blackened fish tacos. They are mouth watering, and you can tell the fish is fresh off the boat. There are plenty of options for every appetite.
