This was our only poor dining experience on Nantucket. The problem isnât the food, which was adequate, but rather that this is a bar misleadingly promoting itself as a restaurant while treating diners as a nuisance. We had an evening outdoor reservation. They were late seating us, which would not be an issue except that they asked other diners to leave so that we could have their table.
I think the word for this is âforeshadowingâ, because halfway through our meal (and we purchased apps, entrees, a bottle of wine plus two glasses of wine with the appetizer), they started taking away the candles and other table items and asking if we wanted the rest of our wine to go. We had not been brought a check or asked if we wanted anything else. We had been there less than an hour with a $200+ tab, but the line to enter the bar area was growing, so they wanted to chase away the diners to have our tables for extra bar seating. The bartender came out to give a scripted, insincere apology about it being tough to find good workers, but it was very clear this was standard operating procedure.as it was being done to all tables. They turned up the music at the dining end to âbar levelsâ, which was the âsiren callâ to attract more bargoers.
In summary, go elsewhere if you want a meal. The bar scene looked quite popular for those under 25 with parentsâ credit cards but meals are too costly in Nantucket to waste your time and money on a cynical business...
Read moreThis very sweet restaurant In Nantucket was a fantastic experience for me my wife and our friends . First we got there really early and they still were able to seat us inside at a great table . Within seconds we were being served water by a busboy with a super cool digital watch and we never went any time without fresh water all night . William our waiter doted on us from the outset.we started with the Hamachi crudo , fresh and delicious and the mussels which had a very spicy and savory broth . I had the cod in a mushroom broth that was sensational and they were smart enough to give you a spoon to eat all of the broth . My wife ordered the Scampi but wasnât feeling well because she may have been over served at Cisco winery đ. What really impressed me is that the manager immediately came over to ask if she wasnât enjoying it. We explained the situation but to see that level of attention to customers,Anticipating problems before they become more than that , and we saw her doing it to every table , was service you just donât see much anymore. She ended up eating the Scampi later when she felt better and said it was perfect. William it turns out was in training and he seemed seasoned and professional already. Great food , phenomenal service, excellent atmosphere. What more...
Read moreA wonderful experience from start to finish! Came early and had a relaxing time at the outdoor bar, including a great wine and cocktail list, and some very interesting and tasty appetizers. Then moved to a table for our dinner reservation, and at all times the staff were friendly, welcoming, and went out of their way to take care of our preferences (seating choice, heater, etc). We were impressed by the menu options, and even more so by the flavorful and artfully prepared dishes. I had the Scottish Salmon (hand raised from a special farm and so fresh, and so nicely cooked, moist on the inside, and fabulous crusty skin) and my wife had the amazing Bolognese (wonderfully warm and flavorful). The staff was busy but had things well under control and were very attentive and accessible. We stayed extra to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere on the patio, and weâre looking forward to returning! Luckily Queequeqâs will stay open inside except for a month or so break at the beginning...
