Tucked away on a serene corner, just as the early hues of dawn paint the sky, lies the 5th Avenue Coffee Co & 6th Street Diner—an embodiment of community and warmth in the city's bustling heart. On a leisurely morning stroll, we chanced upon this delightful haven, where the air buzzes with the gentle hum of conversation and the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee.
Opting for a traditional start, we chose the quintessential everything bagel with cream cheese, accompanied by a butter croissant and a chocolate chip cookie, each promising a taste of the diner's homemade charm. The beverages of choice were a cappuccino and a latte, both of which were sweet, creamy, and, it seemed, crafted with an extra dose of love.
With its buttery layers that flaked apart at the touch, the croissant melted in the mouth with a delicate richness that only the finest croissants can boast. The chocolate chip cookie, warm and gooey, offered the comforting embrace of home in every bite, its chocolate chips still tenderly melting. The bagels, toasted to perfection, provided a satisfying crunch that beautifully contrasted with the excellent, smooth cream cheese—a combination so simple yet executed flawlessly.
Yet, what truly set this breakfast apart was not merely the delightful food but the atmosphere of genuine community that enveloped us. Seated amongst the locals, we were privy to snippets of their daily lives—their plans, joys, and concerns—overheard against clinking cups and soft laughter. Outside, the world went by: a dog trotting past, a cyclist ringing their bell, a gentle breeze stirring. At this moment, sipping our coffees and savoring each bite, we found ourselves not just observers but participants in the tapestry of the neighborhood.
The 5th Avenue Coffee Co & 6th Street Diner is more than just a place to grab breakfast; it's a nexus of community, a spot where locals and visitors alike can converge to share in the simple pleasures of good food and good company. It stands as a reminder of the beauty in the every day, the joy of a morning well begun, and the unspoken bonds that meals can forge among us. Whether you're searching for a delicious start to your day or a moment of connection in a fast-paced world, this local gem welcomes you to be a part of something...
Read moreOwner/manager allows dogs outside. Tiny, tiny sign warning of this. Doors prominently day No Pets, which is why we chose to dine there.
Owner/manager decided to allow those patrons (with 5 dogs) who arrived after we did to stay put. Had to pick up meal from table myself and bring inside. My wife explained she cannot be near dogs (victim of vicious attack late this summer). Owner/manager didn’t care. Be warned - owner/manger insensitive to patrons needs. Owner/manager got immediately defensive when I explained issue. I get that I’m just a lowly tourist but choosing animals over people is wrong. How many dogs are paying for the meal? Obviously, would never come back.
Owner responded to my post, writing "I'm sure you'll find dogs everywhere". On that, we agree. I don't dine with dogs and dogs don't pay the bill. Are restaurants built for people or dogs? Why side with people who arrived after we did? Why force us to run inside to protect ourselves from these dogs? Why must people be forced to dine with animals? In New York CIty, NO animal is allowed in ANY food establishment. So - very clear you don't take your patrons safety into consideration. I also found you to be a less than decent human being. My wife's safety comes first, not dogs. Your place - you do what you want. You won't ever see another penny from me and I will let ANYBODY who goes to Naples know to avoid your unsafe dog restaurant.
It's really the owner's fault. Despicable excuse for a...
Read moreMy community bike club has been visiting this COFFEESHOP as a nice break/turnaround location for years. Today our group of 7 spent 25 minutes or so there at two adjacent outside tables between 11- 11:45 -- with multiple open tables constantly available during our visit. Four of our group went inside to get group's drinks and multiple baked goods to share. The wait staff were nice enough but it was before noon and already 4 of the 6 muffin flavors were sold out.
Then as our group was sitting drinking/eating/socializing (with one person STILL INSIDE purchasing food) the (new?) manager (owner?) stopped at our table and hassled us because not everyone had individually ordered something!! All the while with several tables sitting empty. He said if we're not going to each order something than we should go somewhere else -- and specifically mentioned Starbucks.
Someone being rude once I can overlook because we all deal with stress and have bad days. But he made a point to come by again 10 minutes later as we were finishing and clearing our tables -- to hassle us again for not ordering enough and saying we should go to Starbucks in the future.
So... OK. Those present will pass the word to the 50+ well-off retirees in our community cycling club that we should find new places in Naples to give our $ to. At least until we hear that manager is gone or until we hear that 5th Ave Coffee again welcomes small groups that aren't...
