Literally had the worst dining experience of my life tonight. Sorry to report that shrinkflation has come for Chuy's - apparently the jalapeno ranch is now a secret menu item that you have to specifically ask for because it's too expensive to make it for everyone (the waitress specifically said that). And then apparently you have to ask for it more than once because they will forget it the first time you ask.
They also messed up my boyfriend's order twice. He ordered a chicken burrito. The first time it came out as two vaguely wrapped chicken somethings in tortillas. And then the second time it came out as a rice and beans burrito. We gave up at that point and just both shared my meal.
My order (chicken burrito bowl) was also missing the guac but honestly, I don't like confrontation so I didn't say anything and it's not a huge part of the dish so whatever.
We did come in 45 minutes before close, so maybe that's why everything turned out so badly. But I wish they had just not seated us, or let us know what all they were willing to serve us. Our entire experience only took 30 minutes, we actually left 15 minutes before close so there was clearly enough time to serve us still.
I think the bad experience was intentional to get us out of there and "punish" us for coming in late - you'd really have to actively try to craft as comedically horrible of an experience as we had. There's no way it was an accident. Now I'm feeling paranoid, worried that they spit in my food or something.
Anyways, Chuy's employees, you win. I will not ever come in 45 mins before close again if I come back at all. I hope the 15 minutes that you saved was as epic and joyous as you imagined it would be and more.

Read moreWe were a party of 7 and decided to go to Chuys on White Bridge for dinner. This was the third time we have been to this one since it opened. The first two times were great! Great service, food, and drinks. Not so much this time! It was 8pm on Friday night. There were only 15 people, yes I counted, sitting and eating in the restaurant. We were sat fairly quickly. It was at least 10 minutes before we were even greeted at the table. Drinks took at least another 10-15 minutes. This was for soda and bar drinks. The bar drinks were great! We ordered food when we received our drinks. It was at least 45 minutes before we received our food which was barely room temperature, extremely greasy, tasted very bland and subpar for what we were expecting. Refills on sodas took 10+ minutes to come to the table; we only asked once and just drank water! I could understand if the restaurant was busy, but it wasn't. We could hear staff in the back laughing and playing around our entire visit, which is probably why our food was not hot when brought to the table. The only thing that came out fast was the check!!! Read moreHad to come leave a review after the top notch customer service I received tonight. I wrote in to request a refund (on part of a to go order) for a side I ordered and didn’t receive (creamy jalapeño ranch, iykyk). I really wasn’t mad - I actually laughed to my friends that this was my payback for getting takeout when I had perfectly good food in the fridge 😜.
I got calls from both the general manager & to-go manager both apologizing profusely. They went above & beyond with processing my refund (& more) and I honestly am slightly embarrassed how much attention they both gave me. Very very sweet of them to care so much & reach out personally. I’m really blown away by the high level of customer service, and figured I’d at least leave my positive review!
If either of you are reading this, I promise I wasn’t writing in to complain / “be a Karen”! It was just a “treat yourself” meal anyway so I figured I’d try to get refunded for the part I didn’t get. (And please tell the gal who is new that it really wasn’t a big deal, but also that she did a great job on fulfilling my request for extra chips 😊 I really don’t want her to feel bad, this was definitely a first world problem 😉)
