We are locals &have been excited to try this place We ordered Italian subs and shortly after ordering them, I noticed at another table that the subs were served cold. I got the servers attention &asked him if they were hot or cold subs. He said they were served cold so I asked if he would be able to put them in the pizza oven to heat them up for us. He said that they could not, so I told him that we wanted to change our order then and just get a pizza. He went into the kitchen, minutes later returned &said they already made our subs & we would have to eat them. At this point, the subs were still in the kitchen. I tried to explain that we wanted a hot meal for lunch. We gave him our order of what pizza we wanted in its place, he acknowledged it but was annoyed &argumentative. He then sent the manager over, She agreed & said that it wasn’t notated on the menu that they were cold subs, but said that the subs were already made &they could package them for us to take them home to heat. I explained that we came to dine there &didn’t want to take them home to heat ourselves. We didn’t want them & had placed a pizza order with the server. She asked if he had put the order in and we said we assumed that he did but weren’t sure. Then she said if we didn’t take the subs that was fine, but we would still be required to pay for them Again, In a nice manner, I explained that we changed our order prior to receiving any food&that we no longer wanted them. it was not marked clearly on the menu anywhere that they were cold subs so we didn’t want to pay for something we weren’t eating but we were willing to buy a pizza in its place At that point, she seemed confused, said ok &kind of just wandered off. Minutes later, a food runner brought the subs to the table, he was the most pleasant person we encountered. We said that we only needed the 1 turkey sub & had cancelled the 2 Italian subs, he said ok cool & took them back to the kitchen. We sat there for another 10 min while our friend ate & our the server continued to wait on other tables around us. He did not come to our table or speak to us &never brought us our pizza. When he did finally come back, he reluctantly filled our iced tea, looked at us annoyed & said, “so are you ready for your check “We were all confused &shocked that he obviously never placed our pizza order. We decided to just cut our losses &said yes, we're ready. He told us our bill was $76+. He had charged us for our 2 subs. I told him we thought the manager was going to remove them. He abruptly said soshe said she was going to take them off? He went to talk to her, I could see them clearly from my seat, the server, manager &another staff member were discussing it. I could tell they were talking about us in a not so nice manner, just by their facial expressions &gestures. The server came back &rudely told us the new total, We continued to be polite, not feeding into his attitude/behavior at all, paid our bill & left. When we left, the manager was standing by the door &ignored us. We will never return to this establishment! I worked as a server in the restaurant industry for 4 years myself and have never treated customers or seen colleagues treat customers with such disrespect and rudeness. It was apparent that there was poor communication between the servers, kitchen staff &managers. The entire situation was mismanaged by the server & manager. I’ve never seen restaurant staff/managers behave in this manner, the rudeness & trying to force customers to pay for something that they didn’t eat was shocking! However, the day was not a complete bust, after leaving this restaurant, we went to 312 Pizza Company…..This place always has amazing pizza and food and a friendly staff. It’s a family owned business that knows how to treat their customers! Please do your self a favor & skip going Dicey Pizza Tavern if you want to avoid a Dicey &...

This is like my 4th edit. Dropping a star. Ridiculously inconsistent. One day it is the best pizza in Nashville. The next it is undercooked and middling. Too pricey to get things wrong 50% of the time.

Have dietary restrictions? BE CAREFUL! My vegan daughter ordered a salad WITHOUT feta and when we got home we found feta. See previous review for them putting meat on a veggie pizza.

BE BETTER, Dicey's!

We went another time and it was very good. I guess be careful what you order. Server was better than previous times. We went around 2 pm so missed any rush.

I like black pepper on my pizza and it turns out they do have some. You just have to ask.

The vodka sauce is better than the red sauce. We'll order it every time.

We went back and man it was disappointing. The pizza wasn't as good this time. There were SLIMEY and yucky red peppers on the pizza that I don't remember being there last time. I grew up with fresh veggies on my pizza and this was anything but.

Sigh.

I'll give it one more chance as a build your own. For the price, they really need to get it right every time.

We'll be back because the food is fairly good, but a few things made this a less than stellar experience.

We checked in with the host then got a text that it would be 1 hour and 45 minutes for a table. I came back to the host and asked if that was correct and she said it could be. We couldn't wait that long so we returned to our car and tried to decide where else to go. Within 10 minutes they texted our table was ready.

It is absolutely terrible service for a host to not be honest about the inaccuracy of the text. We almost left. We were literally pulling up directions on our phone to another place.

FYI, they won't split a pizza to be half vegan, half nonvegan. Having vegan options was half the reason we came, but my daughter didn't want a whole pizza so she just ate a salad which she felt was overpriced.

We paid $2 for hot honey that we never received. And my vegetarian pizza came with a stray pepperoni on it. It wasn't a huge deal to me, but my wife who wasn't with us is a Hindu vegetarian and it is always concerning when restaurants are careless with something that is so important to many.

We had to ask and wait for a fork for the salad and ask for shakers of things like red pepper that were at every other table in the place. The person who brought out the food plopped it down randomly without checking on who ordered and we had to rearrange to get it to the right person each time he came out.

All that said, we will be back because it was probably the best pizza we've had in the 20 years we've lived in Nashville. I grew up in California where I've had better pizza, but my middle child who was born here said it is the best pizza she has ever had.

The sauce and cheese were rather bland compared to what I grew up with. I don't know why Nashville doesn't season its sauce (the exception is an Indian fusion pizza shop in Franklin). But the way the pizza was cooked so it was crisp but not too much so and the generous toppings that go all the way to the edge were exactly what I've been missing for 20 years. I don't get why they cut in squares. It makes the middle piece disappointing by comparison, but that's a minor issue.

If they could improve their host and texting system, be more careful with stray ingredients, and actually give us everything we ordered, I would update the stars...

Upon arrival, just after seating, our party of 7 grew by three. When we asked if our additional three could be accommodated, we were met with exasperated eye rolling and sighs by our waitress, who had never bothered to introduce herself. She then, very rudely asked, "how many are really in your group", and was calmly informed that we just found out that three additional guests wanted to join us. She went to ask front of house staff & returned, rudely alerting us that the additional three could not be accommodated - again with the eye rolling, and gutteral, dismissive tone. Interestingly enough, I had been at Dicey's for a lunch meeting just the day before, and there were five in our party, one of whom was sitting at the table alone when I arrived, with three others joining us 10 to 15 minutes later. The strict adherence to seating all guests at once, clearly is not true.

Having a baby in a stroller, we were rudely instructed to move the stroller to a different side of the table, even though the initial placement of the stroller would not have hindered wait staff or other guests.

When I went to add our three additional guests to the wait list for seating, I was met by a stony-faced, sour management team member, who had earlier come to our larger table because she was told we were talking and I suppose our waitress felt she needed to have the weight of the to manager come to see if everything was okay, though none of us said anything untoward to the waitress.

As our larger table was finished eating and enjoying each other's company, the rude, cantankerous waitress came to the table more than once asking if we were going to cash out, and instructing that she could only break up the tab in a couple of ways, which should have been shared at the initial seating. No other guests were being rushed, not corrected to cash out so hurriedly.

Our three party table had an excellent experience with Brian, we had an equally excellent experience at the bar with, I think his name was Brayden, and another bartender.

The management staff and that initial waitress could absolutely benefit from additional customer service training, to include a pleasant demeanor, no eye rolling, no body language suggesting that they are exasperated and unwilling to pleasantly engage customers. Even when those customers ask for accommodations, a simple "no, we can't, we'll get you on the waiting list, etc, would suffice - rather than the extension off-putting demeanor shown by the management person & waitress.

Even in the lack of bare minimum customer service, the waitress at the larger table was tipped well, because, even though she was a grade a jerk why served to be treated as poorly as she treated the guests at our larger table, her lameness did not require that we behave in like...
