Oh! My! GOODNESS!!!!!!! This is probably the 3rd best ice cream I have ever, ever, ever, ever had. However, all 3 ice cream shops share the number spot. All of the young ladys weren't friendly nor were they inviting but there was one young lady that made by my husband and me say, "we'd return but we wouldn't want anyone other than her or the young lady that served us, to serve us." We didn't get her name but she will be attending The University of Alabama in Fall of 2018. She made our vist worth the wait, even though she was only handing payments. The other young lady was extremely patient as I was stuck with the almost tortuous (because everything is worth a try) task of choosing 2 flavors to try because the first 2 flavors I wanted to try were removed from the case as I started my order. I ended up trying the Pickled Mango (more so because I was curious) and the Goat Cheese w/ Red Cherries. The Pickled Mango was VERY intersting but I opted out of having it as a dessert. I went with 3 half scoops of Coffee with Sugar and Cream, Sea Salty Caramel, and Goat Cheese with Red Cherries. My dessert came with a buttery waffle cone wedge, which for me, was too buttery tasting (oh goodness, did I just lose my rights to be a Southerner?). Goat Cheese ice cream may sound weird but I am 99.9% sure you won't be disappointed (.1% left is for just incase you don't like it lol). Any who, my husband ordered 3 half scoops on a Sugar Waffle cone, he chose Brown Butter Almond Brittle, Sea Salty Caramel, and Salted Peanut Btter with Chocolate Fleeks. FYI Brown Butter is the result of scorching (ie browning) butter. The butter is placed in a pan, intentionally burned and used for cooking. I have an extremely sensitive pallet and because I didn't know what my husband ordered, upon first taste I said, "Oh my, it tastes burnt...." and before I could finish he said, "yes, I have burnt butter almond brittle" and I thought yeah, I was getting around to that. But I am also not an almond fan (short of almond milk and the nut it self). Nonetheless we both genuinely enjoyed our dessert and we will visit Jeni's again (maybe not this location) but defintely another location for the ice cream.
S/N: We did have a WTH moment when one of the workers stood on the counter, with shoes on to place tape across the flavors they had already removed from the case or were in the process of removing. Granted they weren't using the station for food at the time, it still didn't look good to see someone standing on a food prep station to "mark off" a flavor that was no longer being offered because it wasn't...
Read moreI adore the Goat Cheese & tart cherries ice cream! UPDATE: 12th South location 2/25/25 Well, for the last few years I've been going to Jennis pleased with the portions and flavors. However, the other day, I experienced a situation that was so disappointing. The serving portion size has now been cut in half to "golf ball" sizes of scoops at the same price. I'm sorry but when I've been purchasing full scoops for 3 + years and then, they r cut in more than half for the same price, I cannot justify paying $9.83 (that's a $1 tip included) The girl said "yeah, we got in trouble for the serving size" WHAT? Ok, so for 3 years I've been paying for normal scoops of ice cream and "all of a sudden" I'm told management has been mad at for people serving the wrong amount? Wait. I went ahead and bought it. But when I can eat an ice cream cone, without it even dripping from in between licks every now and then, and it stays "dry" because there's no ice cream in the waffle cone or a penance of what the former serving was for the same price??? Absolutely not. I'm sick of people cutting items in half or less yet, charging the same price. So, it was a good run for a few years but, there's no way I'm spending almost $10 on the most pathetic scoops of ice cream ever. Y'all should be ashamed. What a bait and switch. But, all good! You can rip everybody else off but, I was there when it was what an ice cream is suppose to be. It was a normal scoop, now it's literally a dry small golf ball that you can eat so quickly it's not even satisfying or decadent. What a shame. I won't make ya or break ya with my business but, ive been in the restaurant Industry for 20 + years and I know how it goes but, THIS portion cut is ridiculous and comical. Now....hopefully, this employee has it all wrong and it actually suppose to be the...
Read moreSO REBECCA WAS A FULL 5 STARS PLUS SOME, not only did she give me more information on all seven samples I asked for than I’ve ever received on all the samples I’ve gotten combined before, she was very patient, sweet, and tolerant. She is a new addition to their team, and she is ALREADY a star. The three stars is for establishment for their prices, NO I AM NOT CHEAP, just fair… I came in with another person, she got a waffle bowl and two scoops, she got two of the same scoops, but two scoops nonetheless, her total was $11, I got two separate scoops (citrus pound cake and tropical smoothie…AMAZING AS WELL..5 STARS), w/ no waffle bowl YET mine was 16. I tipped Rebecca 30% because she was probably worth more…The line was out the door and she did not bat an eyelash about helping me figure out what flavor I wanted. My total and all was $20. I just thought it was crazy because I got two separate scoops. Mine was so much more than two scoops and a...
