Having moved to Nashville 5 months ago from San Antonio, TX, I have found that this place does have about as close to the real deal as you can find in Tennessee for breakfast tacos. However, the "southern hospitality" that Nashville is known for seems to be lost on this place and the children who run the place. Here's a summary of this mornings events. Walked up to order some tacos with my son on 11APR21 My son ordered first. He ordered 4 potato egg and cheese tacos with pico. I, in turn told the little girl talking orders that of have the same. So we now have ordered 8 potato, egg and cheese tacos with pico. We ordered a couple of drinks and paid the bill. These are some of the most expensive tacos I've ever purchased but as I like the food I'm willing to pay. I'm even willing to leave the pre-selected 20% tip (for someone who does nothing but take the order and send me on my way to wait on a sidewalk for someone else to yell my name with an order) The bill for 8 tacos, a coke and a bottle of water (including the shameless pre-selected 20% tip) $54.64. Anyone who knows mexican food knows that his is about double what it should be. But again. I'm in Nashville, I understand that I'm paying for a rare commodity. There was no receipt given to me upon paying for these tacos. So we pay the girl and wait about 15 minutes for the food to get ready and for them to call my name. They seemed really busy so to me, I knew I was going to be waiting for a bit and was cool with this. The girl who is doling out the orders calls my name & we get our drinks and a bag of tacos. We proceed back to sit on the side walk because there are only 5 maybe 6 2 top tables outside & the indoor dining room is closed. We notice that we received 4 potato egg and cheese tacos w/ pico (what we both ordered) but we also received 4 bacon, egg and tacos (not what we ordered) Thinking this was simply a human error, I walked up to the door where they have the table set up to let them know that they made the wrong tacos and asked them for what I ordered. This is the part that had me turn red with frustration and anger. The little girl and explained that I got the wrong tacos and she looked at me and said: "let me get my manager" I didn't think that management would have to get involved but I don't run the place so, what ever. She came back and said "we can't remake you tacos. They made what's on the ticket and we're really busy so I can't do anything for you." To this I replied so you're just going to tell me screw off? I explained again that I didn't order these tacos. She looked at the bag that I had brought back up to the doorway table and said. "They can only make what's on the ticket and bacon is on the ticket so I can't help you." So remember that I didn't get a receipt? How the heck an I to double check some order taker of I don't have a receipt to look at? Also, I shouldn't have to. I pressed the issue and told her that I didn't order these. Sure than disappeared for another minute and cake back to me and explained that "the girl at the register remembers your order so we will not make you new tacos. We are super busy and I need to help all of these other people." Knowing that this was completely fabricated, as they are so busy b there's no way for someone to remember what my son and I ordered 20 or more minutes ago, I told her to go get who ever just told her no and I'll speak to them. Now I was quite angry at this point after 5 minutes of arguing with a kid a what amounts to a glorified taco shop. I told her that I would simply stand there and hold up all of her production of they wouldn't correct their mistake and make the right tacos. Then and only then did someone other than the girl I was arguing with come over and ask what the problem was. Eventually, about 25 minutes after ordering & arguing did I finally get what I ordered. The flippant attitude of this girl has caused them to lose a customer for life. Will share...
Read moreWe just love Ladybird Taco, and have been going for a few years. We just went over the weekend and had the #11, (vegan w/ corn tortilla), black beans, avocado, potato, salsa, and the limited time "chilled" taco. First time I had that, and loved it! It was an explosion of flavor with sweet, salty, creamy, vinegary and crunchy. Can't wait to have that again!! My husband likes the guacamole and chips, which always has a few onions on top to enhance the flavor. I like to eat vegan, and was told that the guac is dairy free. Did I mention the COFFEE? Any time of day I order it there. It's better than the local coffee houses around 12 South, I'm not kidding. I get the latte with alternative milk. It's sweet, rich and smooth with no added jitters. This place does good business with a menu big enough to accommodate everyone. My daughter loves the brisket taco. They have indoor seating and a few tables outside for nice days. This place literally saved me during Covid. We would order online, dash in to retrieve the order and sit outside while lingering like we were both normal. We continue to go because prices are within a decent range, wait times are low, and quality is good. Also, it's not always easy to get a vegetarian or vegan dish that's tasty. Fun fact; the owner is a veteran of the music industry here in Nashville. We even saw him playing at the Ryman! Keep up the good work Ladybird, we...
Read moreWent to visit Ladybird Taco after seeing the numerous good reviews here. Outside is adorable. Once inside, it resembles more of a Chipotle, which nothing wrong with that. I was here for the food and not the aesthetic. My friend and I were both super excited to see someone hand making tortillas behind the counter. I ordered corn tortillas with my tacos (I had all the vegetarian options - I was delighted to see there were 3), my friend tried both the corn and flour tortillas (He had the brisket and chicken tacos). We also ordered the elevated guacamole. The service was good and the watermelon Agua Fresca was yummy. The 3 stars is for food quality, taste, and price. The tacos were clearly pre-made and packaged, as one was warm, but the other 5 were room temp. The tacos lack flavor. I mean all of them lacked flavor. My friend and I don't always agree on food, but we both agreed that these tacos just had no flavor, no spice, no yummy sauces, it doesn't feel like even any seasoning. The chips, I have to say were delicious, but the salsas came out of a dispenser and were lack luster and the elevated guacamole also needs spice or something - the watermelon makes it incredibly sweet so there's nothing to balance out that flavor. I love tacos, but I wouldn't reccomend this place unless there's some major menu changes and elevation in...
