Embers was relatively dead (metaphorically) when my lady and I Ubered over from our hotel to check out the 12 South (or South 12th). We walked down the hill, peeped the shops, and generally loitered before trying 3 small plates at Epice. She had a cocktail there, I had an IPA. A review forthcoming on that soon. We squared up our tab there and started up the hill.
Hordes of people on 12th. Teeming masses, even. We wanted a more quiet, laid back and easy place to hang out until we had to hie ourselves to the airport to get home after our most epic Bon Jovi concert weekend. We found exactly that place at Embers.
Cool place. Nice folks. Madison (I hope that was the bartender's name, because she is the bee's knees...if that's not her name, it's something close to that) made our maiden--and possibly only--visit memorable and relaxing.
Embers has a plethora of whiskey, whisky, and other liquor selections. I saw bottles of stuff that I have never seen previously. We stuck with beer, because we had flights ahead of us. I had an IPA called Hipster Repellant, because of course I did. She had some brown ale. Both were cold and refreshing.
For food, we got the deep fried Brussels sprouts and the lava queso. Gotta tell you, if you like Brussels sprouts, and if you are maybe on the fence, go here and get these. Not sure what the sauce was, but it was savory and added significantly to the dish. The lava queso was okay, but not nearly as excellent as those sprouts.
This is definitely a place that I would recommend to friends venturing to Nashville. If you live there, you probably know of better bars and eateries. Life is short and I can't find them all myself. Be...
Read moreWhat a fun place! I'll come here again for sure. If you live close, this is such a small and cozy place to just come and chill out for a few hours. The rustic decor is beautiful (the lighting, the bark overlay on the walls, and all the fun games available (darts and board games)). Our waiter was AMAZING, and the food was delicious!
Our waiter made us feel like he owned the place and we were his very first customers. He was so knowledgeable, so friendly, so down to earth, and incredibly attentive.
Our food and drinks were all on point! Out of a party of 8, we were all satisfied with our meals! I had the brussel sprouts which were SO good! They were cut into halves, I believe they were then pan fried, and drizzled with some sort of light dressing. Either way, they were delicious! There were some brussel sprouts haters in my party lol, and after they tried them, they were won over! I also enjoyed the lobster roll which was jam packed with flavorful lobster. Every bite I took, I was pleased with. I also tasted their fries which were perfectly cooked, soft on the inside, and crunchy on the outside. I was very pleased!
Lastly, there are a few parking spots right in front of the restaurant if you get lucky, but we ended up having to park a block away on the street. Honestly, it was no big deal, since it was free street parking, and the...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped in over the Memorial day weekend. All the other bars were so crowded and this one only had a few customers. After dealing with the bartender, now I know why. Usually bartenders are nice, social and ready to help. This girl that was working was awful!! We are new to Nashville and not familiar with some of the beers and she was so rude. She made us feel like we were inconveniencing her on asking about what was on tap for the night. Next she served my husband the wrong beer. She didn't even apologize or offer him the right one. After that we literally dumped out the beer and left. It wasn't worth the money or time. We use to live in Chicago and are use to different bars and attitudes but she was the worst. I hope they realize she is losing that place business and giving them a bad name. We will never go there again or...
