Santo — Restaurant in Nashville-Davidson

One word = exceptional! Called last night at 7:30, one ring, Anna answered and we made an 8:30 reservation. Arrived. valet, seated at 8:27. Ben our waiter was not really a waiter, he was more of a manger of our dining experience. Stoic, knowledgeable, attentive. Last time I had bread this good was in New Orleans at Cafe Degas. I had the PANISSE chickpea fries, romesco sauce, aiol. Temperature was perfect. Texture was perfect. Imagine the french fries and ketchup served in heaven..........this was it only better. Wife had the BIBB toasted goat cheese, almonds, apples, garlic-thyme vinaigrette the we had 2 orders of BREAD AND SPREAD herb butter, fig and caramelized onions. Then we went from extraordinary to unbelievable. I had the Halibut and wife had the Moroccan Chicken. Again, amazing.

Anyone who reads my reviews knows that I can pick the " fly sh*t out of pepper ". Also my reviews are true reviews and not the niece, nephew, aunt, 11 cousins, mom, dad, cook, dishwasher, neighbors kids, and the family dog and cat writing false reviews.

I have never had a better meal in Nashville. Never had a better piece of Halibut even while on vacation in Alaska. We knew it was going to be special when we were seated next to a table of 6 and all we heard was how great...

Just went to Santo yesterday for a date night. It was FANTASTIC. I literally could not have enough good things to say about it.

SMALL PLATES: We had the

1. Sardines - super tasty (has a bit of a spicy kick to it, but we loved it)
2. Pulpo - amazing, tender, loved the sweet sauce it came with.
3. Scallops - tender, wish it came with 3 instead of 2 but overall the flavor and texture were phenomenal
4. Carrots - what a show stopper. i mean out of this world. we joked that we would come back and just get 6 orders of that!

SALAD: Grilled romaine - a nice light charred taste, crutons were a nice treat. would have liked it more i think if it were pre chopped instead of the head of lettuce. perhaps they were going for a unique presentation.

ATMOSPHERE: We sat outside. The weather was perfect and the ambiance was surprisingly romantic.

PRICE RANGE: I think the price matches the quality. In other words, a bit pricey but I think the quality is well worth it for a splurge night. Remember, most of these dishes are SMALL plates so you're not going to get much quantity. Which is to be expected.

Guys, the food and service are awesome- the problem is this restaurant seems to have a lot of problems with how they conduct their business. First of all, Monday night they had reservations open until 9PM. We booked for a 9PM and showed up at 8:45. The first thing out of the hostesses mouth was that the restaurant closed at 9 and we needed to put our order in as soon as possible. We were so disgusted by the tone and felt so unwelcome we were going to just walk out the door. Instead we stayed and ordered an appetizer. We talked about how awful we felt like we were treated (and because the restaurant is small, the owner walked over) told us we were welcome and could stay as long as we wanted to. So we did! Ordered four courses, a ton of wine, and stayed until 10PM. Our server was delightful and coursed everything out for us perfectly. Food was delicious. Bottom line? HAVE YOUR STAFF FIX THEIR ATTITUDE. If you’re open until 9, you better be seating customers with open and welcoming arms until 9. You’re gonna lose customers to an awesome...
