The coffee and pastries are amazing.
However, the best part is that my wife and I were able to attend John Wilkinson's (the owner's) preliminary "Introduction to home brewing coffee" class. (He said that people should keep watch for more classes in 2022, but squeezed us into the preliminary class because we were moving away).
He covered
grinding beans: the different types of grinds, attributes of each, how many beans (weight) to use, how and when to clean our Burr grinder, etc.
the different types of brewing options, water temperature, how to prepare the apparatuses, etc.
how to brew. (We focused on the French Press), bean amounts, water amounts, 15 to 20 second press, brewing time, different tastes based on brewing times, etc.
He provided a whole lot of other information, and he even prepared our equipment.
He allowed us to bring our own equipment, and was very patient answering all of our questions. Not sure what the class prices will be because he gave us a military discount, but we purchased two types of his whole bean coffee.
Also, they will grind the whole coffee beans for you.
I had a video, but for some reason, I wasn't able to post it to...
Read moreMy husband was taking me to starbucks for my birthday date (01/14/2023). The line is always SO LONG and I didn’t want to sit there in line and wait for what feels like forever. So, he brought up the “coffee shop down the street”. I said sure! I get nervous at new coffee places because I don’t know how to order from other places, so it usually tastes bad. But this place was awesome! The cashier helped me and gave me recommendations. I wanted a nitro cold brew with vanilla & that is exactly what i got. My first taste i could not even believe it. It was THE BEST nitro i had ever tasted!!! And there was no creamer or cream added in. I did have to get a couple splashes of half and half but that is because it was just a tad too strong. I am so highly impressed. I have thought about this place every day!! I am an avid coffee lover. I am so sad that they are not closer to my area (deer park) but i hope they’re able to expand! I watched them making drinks and they do beautiful “coffee art”. They are family friendly and so sweet to the young kids. Any time i am going that direction i will stop by! One hundred thousand times better than...
Read moreThis goes back about in March till today. I was looking for a coffee shop. So I guess you can say I was coffee hoping. I ran across the Java Owl. I can honestly say, they are hands down awesome. The team are always on point. They are well knowledgeable on their coffee. Not only that but are very friendly. John is the owner. He’s one you can call a true leader. Once you open the door your sure to get greeted. This place is family friendly, pet friendly. Not only that but a great place to have a small meeting, great place to do some networking, and even just chill, and listen to some local peps who want to play a little music,or even have a small board game group. John and his crew keep this place up and going. Not to mention the upkeep of the house from the inside and out. From the first day you open the door to the Java Owl, you just walked into uncle’s John house. You will always feel at home. Here are some of many pics at uncle John’s coffee shop. So when you stop by give John and his fabulous crew a high-five for a great job. Also when you see Rick, give his pup a high-five, she loves...
