Where do I start? I have been visiting Natchitoches for the last 10 days. I have eaten out 2 meals a day. Tonight I ate at Papa's. It was a disappointing dining experience. It has been the worse restaurant I have visited in this town. I am not a picky eater but this was terrible. First, the menu online is incorrect. That was a disappointment since I had decided what I wanted before walking in. Our appetizer was Cajun Queso Dip. The homemade chips were burnt. My entree was a Ribeye PoBoy. The sandwich had more shredded lettuce and tomato than meat. The meat was gross and flavorless. It had so much grizzle that I spit most of it out. I left half on the sandwich and picked at the other half. My husband ordered the Breakfast Burger. The meat was overcooked, verged on burnt, not fresh but a frozen meat patty. The egg was overcooked. Normally the eggs are over easy so the juice blends in with the burger. The onion rings were frozen. I doubt seriously they cook anything fresh. It's probably all frozen and they throw it on the grill and warm it up. I can't imagine what their 38.00 steaks would be like. The only good thing about tonight's dining was our waitress. She was very...
Read moreWe stopped thru town to check out the Steel Magnolia spots and found this cute place in the downtown riverfront area for a mid week lunch. There was street parking available right across the street. We got there around 11ish; the place was empty so we had our choice of seating. The server was very attentive, friendly and informative. I ordered the Caramel Apple Martini. It 👏🏻 was 👏🏻 amazing 👏🏻 It tasted exactly like a caramel apple. Mostly tart with a sweet caramel glass drizzle. We ordered the Turtle Eggs (fried jalapeño) appetizer but they were out. Hubs ordered ribeye po boy. It had big chunks of nicely seasoned ribeye steak. I ordered the Honey ham sliders…I think it was actually Turkey. I didn’t mention it because it was good. A little fancy whole grain or spicy mustard would have made it perfect. The fries were crinkle cut and seasoned and fried deliciously! The prices were reasonable for what we ordered; $54 - 2 meals - his ribeye po boy was $17, the specialty cocktail was $12 WORTH it! And his bourbon and coke was $5. Bargain!. The atmosphere was what we expected…even with a mostly empty restaurant. The next time we are in the area I want to try out Mama’s next door and their live music...
Read moreFirst of all, we go in and I asked if the Crawfish pasta has mushrooms. The waitress says no, so I order it. She brings it out and it has mushrooms. My girlfriend tries to order a Cowboy burger, and the waitress says they don't have any onions, so she orders the Philly cheesesteak Po boy, which is supposed to come with lettuce, mayo, tomato, and onions. So they bring out her poboy and there's no lettuce mayo tomato or onions, which I understand because they said they were out of onions. So she asks for her vegetables, and they bring out a plate with lettuce, tomato, and ONIONS. Which she could've ordered what she wanted in the first place. So, because my pasta had mushrooms in it, I then ordered the meat pie meal. I took a bite of the meat pie and it did not taste right so I told her to try it, she took one bite, spit it out, and she has been throwing up ever since. Including having to run to the restroom in the restaurant. AND STILL HAD TO PAY $36. We will NEVER be stepping foot in this place again, and please beware. The waitress was wonderful, but the food here is not worth the...
