PHO 7 COW — Restaurant in National City

Pho 7 Cow is located in a strip mall in National City. Plenty of parking. I walked in around 2:30pm and there were no lines or wait list and was seated immediately. There were a lot of seating at this restaurant. Waitstaff brought me glass of cold water and within a minute or two, he was ready to take my order. I ordered three dishes to try as this was my first visit: one large house specialty beef pho; one large beef stew noodle soup and a combination rice plate with grilled shrimps and filet mignon (as suggested by the waitstaff). Service was quick and I got my food less than 5 minutes after ordering. The staff was efficient and fast. They were courteous and attentive. Pho was piping hot when it was brought to me and has a clean, tasty broth that’s not greasy and the beef meat ball (I think it’s hand made) has a nice chewy texture that I enjoyed. Pho bowl was supposed to include beef tendons but I didn’t find any. I wish there were more beef ingredients like meatballs, tendons, etc. in the pho bowl. They gave me a generous plate of fresh bean sprouts, basil, jalapeño and lime. Since there is a shortage of Sriracha sauce, they provided the garlic chili oil as dipping sauce which was delicious. The beef stew noodle has a yummy rich broth and piping hot too. The grilled filet mignon meat was tender. I was surprised that I got 5 large grilled and deveined shrimp. The rice combo dish was delicious and at a very affordable price point.

This place is clean, fast service, decent, affordable, authentic Vietnamese food and with an efficient staff that keeps the flow of a restaurant going. Keep up the great well-planned team system that works very well. I plan to go back and try other dishes and their Banh...

I love this place! The beef and chicken pho is so yummy along with the egg rolls!

The egg rolls are always hot and fresh when I get them; when I eat them with the sweet and sour sauce they give, the tastes blend together well and helps cool the egg rolls down! On the other hand, the pho broth, noodles, and vegetables are always flavorful with the fresh spring onions blending with the broth and juicy meat.

I went to their branch in Mira Mesa a lot and this branch in National City brings back precious memories I had with my family when I was younger! They have a bowl of sweet, chewy candy with cherry, mango, green apple, and banana flavored candy in the Mira Mesa branch and I wish they had that too in the national City branch! I'm older now but I would definitely still grab some 😆

The beef in the pho was lightly flavored, the broth was refreshing and was complemented nicely with the fresh veggies and ingredients. The Bhan Mi (Steak Sandwich) was made with amazing fresh ingredients and tasty steak. The egg rolls were just perfect. This is the second time I've eaten here. Everything was consistent and the first time was take out. It survived the trip perfectly because they did not mix the ingredients, rather they sent them individually. Over all about a 4.8 star. Extra star for military discount equals 5 stars.

Update A year later and they are still going strong! The service is great and somehow I think the food got even better!

Second Update 4 years now, food is still great. However a few newer staff are not as friendly as older staff. Occasionally claim military discount is for in uniform only. Still five stars but I hope they don't drop...
