First, none of the food is made traditionally. I ordered drunken noodles that seemed to be made with sweet and sour sauce rather than drunken noodle sauce. I asked the waitress about this after it was brought out and she told me they had ran out of fish sauce so that is why it tasted different, however there was no mention of any alternative recipes anywhere on the menu. In addition to that i ordered it at medium heat and it had no spice whatsoever, so i really wonder what sauce exactly was on my noodles. My girlfriend ordered tom kah soup that she liked, however it was unlike any tom kah we've had anywhere else and that was also frustrating since that's not what we were expecting.
My experience with the food here was analogous to ordering KFC and receiving a bucket of raw broccoli instead. The food was absolutely as far off from my expectations of Thai food as it could've been.
Second, the service left a lot to be desired. No one ever came to check on us with the exception of ordering the food. The food took about 45 minutes to come out. And there was no warning that they were going to put sauce suspiciously similar to sweet and sour on my noodles instead of drunken noodle sauce.
All of this is made worse by the fact that the restaurant wasn't very busy and the entire wait staff seemed much more interested in one of their friends that was hanging out in their bar than any of the other customers in the resteraunt.
I would not advise eating here, I'm trying to wrap this up on a positive note, but there really weren't any positives to...
Read moreWe did takeout as we recently moved here, and although my husband and I are both from amazing cities with amazing food, we moved recently from the worst place we've ever lived, a small mining town in Colorado pretty far away.
The deep fried vegetable spring rolls were soggy, the steamed veggies dumplings had a horrible tasting filling, and the noodle soup was both spicy and flavorless at the same time and gave my bowels a real run for their money. It's a good thing my husband is from the deep south otherwise the "mild" fried rice (with random cucumbers on top?) and the grease that held the whole dish together might have put him on his butt all day. Welcome to Nederland, I guess? Was looking forward to the "non spicy" tofu noodle soup, as it always proves to be a comfort food. Instead this left me left hugging the toilet, unable to eat the next day.
I really hate to leave a Karen-like review, But as a new family of three who moved into the area and put everything we had into this move. I was disappointed that this was our first meal upon arrival. Especially after where we moved from.
Gave it a second go for a few reasons. Had to lower the score because gods, man. If a customer specifically requests a dish to be made mild and then needs to Google on how to save their takeout from over spicing you know something has gone amiss.
Flavor doesn't automatically equal spice, and vice versa. Now it's clear this isn't...
Read moreWe got there for a late lunch after a day of snowshoeing at Caribou Ranch.
We were quickly seated and our orders taken. My husband and I shared a Thai iced tea and I cannot tell you how good it was. With every sip we would look at each other and say yum! Let me say it is an acquired taste but it is so good of an acquired taste.
The food came out I felt relatively quick and our orders were perfect. Though I did find the spring rolls a little dry the sauce helped with that. My husband and I shared an order of Pad Thai with chicken and are very glad we share, because it was a lot of food. The noodles were cooked perfectly, the chicken was moist and the sauce was not overly spicy. My one complaint would be not a lot of vegetables were in it. We are used to eating Pad Thai from a well-known chain restaurant where they add a very generous amount of vegetables to the dish.
My my friends ordered the sweet and sour chicken and were able to get it grilled not fried. I did not know that you could order sweet and sour that way. When I think of sweet and sour I think of fried lumps of dough with chicken inside. Instead, this became a light meal, with vegetables (much more than we had with our Pad Thai) and a perfectly balanced sweet and sour sauce.
When we go snowshoeing again out at Caribou Ranch, I am sure we will stop here for a late lunch once more and try other items on their...
