Planned to shop in this store one evening before they closed at 6. Arrived at 5:15 and the door was locked saying closed at 5 due to smoke. There were at least three people standing inside talking while we are looking through the window at the merchandise, clearly upset we couldn't get it. There are several fires in the area so understandable, however, there was little to no smoke in the the town during that evening. I called the store to see if we could come and look around sense we traveled all the way from Wyoming to check the place out. The women sounded frustrated when answering the phone and said they had to close early because of the smoke. I then explained my situation of traveling and she asked if we would be around the next day. We were not and she said well that's too bad. I then asked why they were closed due to smoke seeing as to how there was very little smoke outside. Her response was, we have to restock. That may be true but for the hour we checked out other shops and walked by this one several times the group of people were still in there standing around just talking in the same spots and had not appeared to move. No compassion, no understanding, very poor customer service. We have tried to go to this store twice now and were locked out and turned away both times. We will not try to go to this place anymore. Most have these little pieces of paper saying 1977 or whatever year they printed them. Kind of puts that feeling of, this stuff has been sitting for a while.
People made some big purchases there so it certainly had a niche. And I do love rocks, so I’m happy it’s here in Ned. I just wish they had more Colorado rocks. We have a great mining history and plenty of rock hounds like me would rather see local gems then a million more amethyst.
It’s a cool stop but points...
Read moreIf I could give them a zero stars I would. I had made the trip up to nederland specifically to go to this rock shop. As we entered, the lady (and I use that term loosly) asked me if my mask was mesh. Obviously it wasn't (you can't see through it, it has 2 layers plus the sequin outside). She didn't even say welcome or good afternoon. So, if you want to meet the mask police, go to this shop. It wasn't like I was trying to enter without a mask. They lost at least $100 sale as I had already found at least $20 in items as I entered the door. Their loss. Learn how to deal with customers...
