The Place on South Pine — Restaurant in Nevada City

Really nice Cafe in downtown Nevada City. Super friendly staff. We had a late breakfast on a Wednesday. The food was prepared exactly to order. Very delicious. My granddaughter was excited about how good their syrup is. I don't usually enjoy small California restaurants. My experience has been most if them try to put their own spin on foods that don't need any changes. Things like bacon and eggs, pancakes, etc. This place has some of that, but they also have really good normal breakfast food. I had bacon-n-eggs, potatoes, and toast. The bacon was really thick, but the cook made it nice and crispy per my request. The eggs were great and the toast was super good. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The restaurant is nicely decorated with fresh wildflowers in cups of water and really cool art pieces. A lot of items there are recycled/re-purposed. I really liked the old pieces of pipe they mounted in the restrooms to hold the tissue. Great spot! I will definitely eat there again on my next visit to...

The food is still super delicious and the prices are very reasonable! The service changed to traditional restaurant service which is nice but the service seems to have gone downhill. We had to ask for our drinks after our food came out first and nobody came back to check on us or ask if we needed anything. After sitting for a bit waiting for the check we had to go to the front to ask for it. Probably won’t be back for awhile or will go with takeout instead.

The food is delicious and the staff is really nice and friendly! I love that they have decks of playing cards at every table. It’s a little confusing how the ordering process is setup, you order at the counter, pick a table and they bring you your food. Hello South Pine - I enjoy the atmosphere at South Pine. It feels like a cute nook in the wall. I get the huevos rancheros when I come here. I’m here now and last time was nearly a year ago. This time the huevos rancheros came with two small taco tortillas and minimal green salsa. Of course this is just my opinion, but I want you to either put a third tortilla on there with the beans OR the big tortilla like you did way back when. This way it doesn’t look like a small amount of food when I receive the plate. It will look like I’m receiving a full plate. Also, I want you to put red salsa on top rather than green salsa.
