Ok, so let me lead by saying this was opening day of their Corner Cafe. I debated going at all because, let's face it, opening day ALWAYS has glitches. Because of that, I WILL try them again, after they've had some time to settle in. Here's how today went: My friends and I were quickly seated and our orders were taken in a reasonable amount of time. But... 45 minutes later and we still didn't have our food. At least 2 tables which were seated AFTER we ordered were given their food before we were. One of my friends asked for gravy on the side but the food was served with the gravy on it. Two of us asked for CRISPY bacon (and believe me, I am always very specific when I order bacon). After being given very limp bacon TWICE, we gave up and switched to sausage. By the time I actually got to eat, my eggs were lukewarm at best. On the plus side, my poached eggs were actually poached, which qualifies as a minor miracle. And the biscuits were both soft and tasty. Oh, and the iced tea is not very good. My other friend ordered a burger which she said was good. The servers were all very nice although it was clear that they're all still finding their footing. So, all that being said, the bottom lines for me are 1. Even in its current state, I'd rather go there than the Harvest Cafe where the food AND service are sub par and 2. I think once they find their groove, it'll be worth a second try. Except the bacon...I won't be ordering that again (of course, some people actually like non-crispy bacon so as long as you're not looking for crunch, don't let me keep you from...
Read moreGone to Irene's for years and enjoyed it, but couldn't take my family cause not everyone is 21. Haven't been in since the changes, but called today about making a to go order. The person who answered the phone was very rude. We asked about the different menus online, and she said none were right and we should come in. I explained not everyone was 21, and she said we had to all come in and scan a QR code to see the menu. I tried to ask something and she was just rude. I thought maybe it was because they were busy, but when she told us to come in, she said it was not. I am passing. Don't want to work that hard to try and order my family food, or be talked to in such a rude manner. They lost several customers tonight. They have menus and pictures connected to their website, including the actual menu that has been in place. If none are accurate, and can not be viewed online, why don't they have it edited? Why would I bring my whole family there, and then sit outside and wait for them to make the food, then drive everyone home to eat it? Other places allow you to order online or by phone and then go get...
Read moreWe were told to sit anywhere at ten to two in the afternoon on Monday, March 18th. After we had started ourselves, were told by a woman who was not the hostess nor a wait person, we would have to move to a smaller table in case a big group came in. So we had to sit smack in the middle of the room. The young waitress was lovely and pleasant.
The Ruben sandwich may have been excellent if the oil they grilled the bread with had not been rancid. The onion rings were crunchy!
One worker took a glass with her bare hands and scooped the ice out of the ice bin with the glass. That breaks a few codes.
We used to love Irene's. But the last few visits have been extremely disappointing. An apparently Emergency fill-in bar tender have us margaritas in tiny plastic cups. There was no alcohol nor mixer, just ice and a little lime. No salt on the rim. Then the "bartender" decided she would put them in tall skinny glasses with lots of salt. We opted for chardonnay. We hope they work out...
