Mood - Ramen
I was in the mood for some ramen and knew I would be in the area. I went online and found this restaurant. I called and asked if they took reservations. The lady said no, I asked if they were busy, she said she cant guarantee how it would be when I decided to show up. So I figured might as well just go and give it a try. That phone call was the red flag I didnt pay attention to.
Upon entering was greeted and ushered over to the sit up counter. It was a little busy as patrons were starting to leave. Other people were asked if they wanted a table but not me. Thought that was odd. Then finally was asked if my order was taken. I let them know " No". The server walked away and came back to take my order.
Opted for the Tonkatsu Ramen, Kimchi, and Pork Buns. The ramen was on point as it should be. This establishment is related to Monta which has some of the best broth here in Vegas. The food was well prepared and presented wonderfully.
Interior is a sit up counter with social distancing, booth backs with accommodating tables and chairs. It is not large in size but def enough room to seat plenty of patrons. Everything was very clean. Staff wearing masks to ensure Covid safety protocals.
Would recommend for the flavor not the customer service. I say this, as I was waiting for my food, another family came in, was quickly greeted, sat down, and their order was taken all within a reasonable time frame. They didnt have to wait the time I did. It was obvious regarding my wait time, as the ramen chefs even looked at me looking around. Pricing is reasonable for the quality and and presentation...
Read moreFirst of all, I always like to mention that staff is great and super hospitable, very friendly and always looking to please. The ambiance hasn't changed and the atmosphere is always consistently warm and welcoming.
I realize I came in late at night but regardless the quality should always be the same. Consistency is key and I've followed and been loyal to these guys since they opened.
It breaks my heart to say that tonight the flavor was nothing more than spicy old bath water. It was neutral, and would have been inedible had I not asked for chili and sesame oil on the side. The chashu was a frozen slice of porchetta, requiring my own broth to cook this neglected slice of meat. There was no love from the chefs cuisine, you could taste it. It's a complete waste of their time if they cook this way, they're better off growing potatoes. I will likely find more flavor from the Subway next door and that is an absolute travesty.
Judging by the newer reviews, there may have been a change of management, but there has definitely been a disappointment in the flavor, quality and stance of the customers.
This place will have 2 months to hopefully fix their restaurant before I return, with great wishes that I can update and replace this...
Read moreThis is a good ramen places to try in the South West area, but there’s just something that is missing about it. I really used to like this place a few years ago but I have a feeling the quality may have dropped.
The most notable thing I’d say which is definitely different than any other place is that they serve the pork and egg (sold separately) cold on top of your hot ramen. I like my ramen egg more yolky and soft boiled, but this one is more jammy and more towards hard boiled.
I usually get tonkotsu but I got shoyu which was pretty good. The only thing I’d note is if you like spice, I suggest getting it on the side. I got level 4 shoyu and I could barely taste the broth by itself. So it may be more enjoyable to at least taste the broth by itself first before adding the spice.
Other than that, this place is a pretty standard ramen joint that also makes their ramen noodles in house. If you are waiting, you can take a look at their ramen making machine. The location is pretty small where it may be perfect for eating solo or probably...
