The food was OK, the service was slow, and we never received one item. I would not go back again.
We decided to eat here because Master Kim's had a long wait and this place was practically empty by comparison. We waited about 5-10 minutes after being seated before anyone took our drink order. By then, we already knew what we wanted to eat, but the person taking our drink orders told us another person would be taking our food order. We waited another 5-10 minutes before someone came over to take our food order.
Being our first time dining here, we chose the Pier 215 Tasting menu ($39/person), which came with Seafood Ceviche, a Mixed Green Salad, Crispy Rice w/ Spicy Tuna & Crispy Pork Belly, Miso Soup, Chef's Sushi Selection, Angus Beef short rib, and Mochi ice cream.
The Seafood Ceviche was good.
The Mixed Green Salad tasted like it had wasabi in the dressing, which I don't like, but my wife loved.
The Crispy Rice w/ Spicy Tuna & Crispy Pork Belly was fantastic.
The Miso soup never arrived. So, we never got to try it despite it being listed as part of the tasting menu we ordered.
The Chef's Sushi Selection was five pieces of hamachi and one piece of tomago. The hamachi had wasabi between the fish and rice, which I did not like, but my wife enjoyed.
The Angus Beef short rib was just OK. We waited about 10 minutes after having finished the rest of our food before this came out. When it arrived, the vegetables were nice and hot, but the short rib was not. It was also some of the driest short rib I have ever eaten. I love short rib and always order it whenever I see it on a menu at a restaurant, and I was very disappointed by the short rib here.
I also ordered the Pork Belly Bao Bun. It was just OK. I felt it was a little light on the meat, and the meat was drier than other pork belly bao buns I have had at other restaurants.
The mochi ice cream was great and presented nicely.
Lastly, overall food presentation was nice except for the short rib plates. It looks rushed and messy on one...
Read moreEach week my husband and I choose a new restaurant to try. Pier 215 was his choice, his week to choose. Outstanding is an understatement. Every bite, every sip was truly an outstanding experience in quality. With a capital Q. We started with seaweed salad and Kobe sliders (on the lunch menu for 18 bux!) Sliders were so delicious I was at a loss for words, also, the dressing on the greens surrounding the seaweed salad was yummy and fresh. Then we tried two maki rolls, one was the Golden Night... that blew me away it was so good. I can't remember the name of the other one but it melted in my mouth and was nice and light. We ordered their fish and chips. Outstanding again, especially the fries. Best fries ever!! The tarter sauce was fantastic. The cocktails are right up there with the food. Omg. Divine. Cucumber mojito, a spicy margarita, one had fresh mango puree in it, and the tropical martini...crafted, great ingredients, attention to detail, pride and love in Pier 215's food and drink. Don't get uppity with the staff when you think you've waited too long for your order. Perfection takes time. You'll understand at your first bite and sip. Cannot wait...
Read morePier 215 is a Japanese restaurant that serves a variety of sushi, rice bowls, and some drinks. There’s many options but it’s pretty standard when it comes to sushi.
The thing that sets this place apart from other sushi spots is the fact that they have a Kaiseki option as well as a sake sampler. If you want to try something different, I highly suggest either of these options. Kaiseki is pretty much an assorted variety of Japanese dishes from vegetables to sushi.
Ambiance is pretty nice as I’ve only went there when it’s night time. Fairly dimly lit so it brings a romantic vibe if you want to bring a date here. They can accommodate a good amount of people, but a large group may be limited depending on how busy they are.
Whenever I’ve been here, the service has been pretty decent since it wasn’t too busy. The service was pretty standard as they would check up on us every so often.
Overall, this place has good quality Japanese food while specializing in sushi/sashimi and has great options when it comes to...
