In what world does one make a reservation, then is told there is no room when they show up for the reservation? I made a reservation for tonight at 8. Show up with my date promptly at 7:55. There’s a group of 5 ahead of us. I go up to the door to check in with the person from the group of 5. Someone answers the door for the leader of the group of 5 people, tells them they don’t have reservations, but they can come on in, then shuts the door in my face. “Okay great, they’re letting 5 people in at once without reservations, must be plenty of room.” It’s not 8:10 and no one has come back out for us. Finally, at 8:15, 15 minutes after my reservation, someone comes out to get us. They ask if we have reservations and I tell them “yes at 8.” The person then proceeds to tell us there are no tables inside, but we can sit on a bench inside if we want. I ask about the table of 5 with no reservations they just took. He claims they had reservations although they clearly said they didn’t. We left. I don’t want to make reservations at a speakeasy and not get the full experience.

Get it together Apothecary…. Honor reservations. What’s the point in making it if there’s no room? I’ll continue taking my money across the river to a better speakeasy where my reservation actually matters: Hell...

This place is FANTASTIC! We celebrated my birthday here when we were in town for the Derby and it exceeded all expectations. It’s under new management and the manager/bartender was so accommodating and made the best drinks (every one was unique and delicious and beautifully presented), and our host/server extraordinaire Kandra was a delight! From the moment we showed up and she enthusiastically took our photos in front of the gorgeous red wall (second oldest building in new Albany we are told…), and throughout the night she was so fun! The place is gorgeous, low lit, with a fantastic lounge up top. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! don’t miss this place if you’re in the area.

PS I had so much fun that I left my hat there, and only realized it the next day after we had already started traveling home. They so graciously shipped it to me the very next day. Beyond exceptional service,...

I heard New Albany was getting a speak easy and I was sooo excited and went the second it opened. IT WAS PERFECT The last 2 times I went in late 2023 and last weekend was disappointing. Dusty, no more speak easy, and the bar tenders are not experienced. I got better drinks at Hugh E. Birs and that place scares me.

If they drinks was made better this would be amazing, but they over pour and it ruins the drinks. The speak easy also made this place amazing since it made it unique and different than the 15 surrounding bars. Nows it's the same as the rest but more expensive with moderately...

We came to High Street with high expectations. This "speak easy" came highly recommended by a friend who had visited in the past. To our complete disappointment, this is no longer a speak easy but simply an over priced bar. We had a small table but there were 4-5 other groups all around. While normally not a problem, it was just one big open room with small tables. In other words, it's just a bar. If you want to drop $15 plus on cocktails. I'd probably try somewhere else. And if you want a true intimate setting, Try Hell or High Water. It's just a better experience.

Stayed in New Albany for a weekend while on the bourbon trail and this was a great find. Very cool speakeasy vibe. We sat upstairs in what felt like an old house/ library. Loved the atmosphere. Our waitress, Rose, was incredibly friendly and accommodating. She even gave us some complimentary chocolates since we were celebrating an anniversary. I got the "fools gold" and it was delicious and so reasonably priced! We really enjoyed our visit and would definitely come again if we're back in the area. If you enjoy good cocktails this is a must!

Are you kidding me? This place is too cool for small town New Albany. It reminds me of my favorite speakeasy in Mexico City. Such a great vibe with the nicest mixologists! I had the best gin gimlet I've ever had here (Big Fuss savory gin) and my friend and I were treated as friends despite coming in close to closing time. It's dark and romantic and warm like a speakeasy should be, in a historical building, decorated flawlessly. The menu is creative and the prices are very fair. This is my new social spot when I come to town.
