Naegelin’s German Bakery absolutely exceeded our expectations for our wedding cake! From start to finish, they were a joy to work with, and the final result was simply perfect. We had a gorgeous two-tier chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and classic buttercream frosting, along with 24 gluten-free cupcakes for our gluten-sensitive guests. Everything was rich, flavorful, and beautifully executed—our guests couldn’t get enough!

Tammy was especially wonderful to work with. She was incredibly attentive to my sister’s vision for the day and made it come to life, even though we didn’t have a strict design plan for my sister's celestial/boho theme. I shared one vision board to give her some ideas, and she was able to run with it. She struck the perfect balance—not too busy, not too plain—just elegant and timeless. We opted for delivery and professional setup, and it was 100% worth it. They even added flowers from our florist, making the cake look absolutely stunning. Multiple guests commented on how beautiful it was, and unlike so many weddings where cake goes uneaten, our guests devoured every last bite!

Not only was the cake delicious, but we also deeply appreciated the gluten-free options. It meant so much to have something for everyone, and our guests were grateful for that extra touch.

We absolutely recommend Naeglin’s German Bakery! They’ve been serving the area since 1868, and you can tell—they know exactly what they’re doing. If you’re looking for a bakery that delivers both exceptional taste and flawless presentation,...

My rating is based on the food and not on their service. For their service I would have to rate them with one (1) star. There is no doubt Naegelin's Bakery knows how to bake some of the most perfect and decadent pastry I've ever tasted. However, the girl who helped us acted very "put out" with our questions in regards to certain ingredients; we have some dietary constraints which we told her as soon as we walked up to the counter as well as letting her know that it was our first time visiting the bakery. We ignored her frustration since we had traveled quite a distance to try out this historic bakery. But, it was embarrassing, to say the least, when she grabbed on to the counter while letting out a huge sigh of relief, as we walked away, asking the next person in line if she could help them with a tone that expressed her annoyance toward us. (There were several people in line who witnessed her behavior.) The dietary question was simply, which baked items do not contain dairy? A question that the kitchen was able to quickly answer. We left feeling rather humiliated with almost $40 of baked goods. The pastries are absolutely delicious and we would go back again but not without a little hesitation, hoping it was just an isolated incident. Customer service is important no matter how great the product. They absolutely have a...

The historic bakery is situated in the middle of New Braunfels' downtown. It's been around for well over 100 years.

The staff here is wonderful. They're very friendly, efficient, and helpful. If you're looking for something special, they can make it happen.

The number of different pastries that are available is pretty amazing. It seemed like that had everything imaginable: Cakes, pie pies, cupcakes, cookies, donuts, turnovers, cinnamon rolls, bear claws, muffins, strudels...you get the picture. The cakes and the pies looked the most delicious. Unfortunately, I didn't have any of those. None of the pastries looked particularly good. I can't explain it but they just looked flat. They tasted that way too. Too dense for my liking, not flaky or fluffy. I was disappointed and surprised.

The coffee was good.

There are small picnic tables in front of the bakery and on the side of the building. It's very cozy.

There was plenty of parking on the street and a smaller parking lot next to the bakery. There's also a drive-thru where you can pick up your orders on the run.

I'm glad I visited saw this historic bakery. I don't think I'll be back for pastries again. I would like to try one of the cakes, pie, or macaroons if I...
