Had eaten at this bar once before and had an unmemorable experience. Tonight, however was a new low in dining for me. Let’s start by saying that a restaurant that calls themselves The Oyster Bar was out of oysters at 5:30 in the afternoon. Why didn’t I leave? We had already ordered an appetizer and drinks that we were consuming by the time they told us they were out of oysters. We made due, had dinner and when the $71 check came, there was a charge on there for not paying cash. Now I have been served at 1000s of restaurants, all over the world and NEVER EVER been charged to use my cc. I have been not allowed to use a cc for a smaller purchase, but this was a first! When I asked to see the manager, I was told there was no manager on duty. But I could speak to a bar tender. Wow! These are terrible and unacceptable business practices. I will never go back. You’ve been warned. Go there at your own risk.

It is seat yourself when we walked in and the place was packed. We did not wait that long for a table. Service was quick, we had our main waiter but 3 other people brought stuff to the table. We got a chips and salsa, large salad that we split, fried oyster basket, and grilled fish tacos. Chips came out HOT and they were seasoned. Salad was fresh and crunchy. They made a mistake and brought out something other than the tacos. They told us what happened and we understood and waited for them to make them. So glad what we waited.. cooked and seasoned perfectly with an amazing tasty coleslaw. The oyster basket was delicious and hot. To my taste it had too much breading on the oysters. Very great place to come and get a drink at the full bar, sit inside or outside and relax listening to music.

Crab dip was fresh and great tasting but full of pieces of shell. Bloody Mary’s hailed as unique here - wasn’t a fan myself. Half glass of Tom juice, vodka and the rest filled with pickled juice. Veggie assortment all pickled, which is great, but all in the same style/juice, which is all just poured back in the bloody. It very much was just drinking from a pickle jar with different looking veggies and a piece of bacon added in while all tasting of the same older vinegar while being over-priced due to parroting of misplaced hype. Not sure I caught on to what was to be the bee’s knee’s about this place as I may have missed it. Prices are good for food - it’s priced about as low as can be without starting to suspect the food quality.

Complete unprofessionalism, terrible staff. We had 14 people ready to spend money. We were ordering oysters all around, drinks, and food. We were polite. Bartender couldn't even answer questions and rolled her eyes at our questions about a shot on the menu . ONE of us didnt have their ID on them, as a few of us had just floated the river. The other half of the group came from walking around the town. A large portion of the group is local. The one missing his ID coincidentally ordered water, no drinks. He was the only person id'd in our group. He is 22. His father was next to him. He was then told to leave, not move.....to leave. We were split in between 21/over section and family section because we were told they couldn't accommodate our whole group. They offered no options. When confronted the waitress yelled. Didn't diffuse any of the situation and got confrontational. Manager came over and told us we can "take the trash out to the curb on your way out." Situation could have been solved if she had asked if he could move one table over to the family section. Instead they kicked him out and told us to pack sand. Keep in my mind half of our group was sitting in the family area already, it was one of the most insane experiences I've had at an establishment that relies on people coming in to make money. Manager was so unprofessional we could only laugh. At so many times in this interaction they could turned this around into a good experience for everyone, they chose not to. Awful experience. We walked...

Had a horrible experience. Definitely will be calling in about it. Drove up from seguin because I heard it was a great place to go for oysters. My server never made eye contact with me, until the end. I kept asking for her suggestion instead I was rudely told just read. ID was expired because I recently lost my dl so I was refused alcohol unless I could find another form of ID, I could not so no drinks fine. She told me to leave, I asked if she could still get me the "clams" that's why I drove out here. She then mocked me, saying they're oysters, called me a stupid n##### under her breath & said she is refusing me service because it is a bar & minors aren't allowed after 7 Again the fact that I couldn't drink was fine, but her attitude toward me from the time I walked in to the time she told me to leave was incredibly distasteful & left me feeling both unwelcomed & disenfranchised. She didn't want to serve me & by golly she made sure she didn't. Normal I don't complain about racist behavior because it is my normal but not today, not this time. So to recap, horrible experience, do not recommend to people of color or people who care about injustice. I hope this is not a reflection of The Oyster Bar or it's upper management however this woman is apart of management so judge...

Okay, where do I start? First of all, I'm going to take most of the blame for my terrible experience with NB Oyster bar and grill. When I walked in and seen that clearly the place was more of a bar than a restaurant, I should have walked out. I went there to have a nice dinner with my father because he loves oysters. I thought it was a restaurant that sold alcoholic beverages. The place was a dirty mess and it looked like the furnishings were just odds and ins that looked like they had been bought at garage sales. That's not the worst of it though, the food was horrible with the exception of the jalapeno cream cheese poppers (kudos on those). The fried oysters were flat and over fried and the fried shrimp was the same. It looked and tasted like frozen food which didn't warrant the price paid for these tasteless dinners. The music was loud and obnoxious along with the young girl standing over me that was screaming across the joint for an individual in the bar. Lastly, the service was terrible but I don't think it was the lone waitresses fault because she was trying to take care of the place herself without success. Please beware, if you're looking for a social spot to drink then this place might work. If you're looking for a nice dinner,...
