Despite driving past a million times, I've somehow missed noticing this place. The food is FANTASTIC. My oldest son told us about it so we went in to try it out. The ceviche starter was fresh, our choice was red snapper for the fish in it... (multiple options available) it was really mild and delishious. We all ordered different items from around the menu and everything was AWESOME. This is NOT Tex-Mex food, Its more authentic Mexican food. You get to choose what type of sauce for your enchiladas, I went w spicy red, it had kick and was delishious. Wife ate filet mignon fajitas and said they were very tender and delishious. Not exactly sure what my son and daughter in law ordered but it looked good and all I heard was good things as they are every bite of food. Server was knowledgeable of the menu and a great help in my ordering, never felt rushed either. Seems like a family owned and operated buisness, my son noted one gentleman that sobbed by our table was the owner. Nice guy. Nothing but good things to say about the food and service. Such a fantastic hidden gem. We will be back.!

Food is too expensive. My husband ordered "shrimp a la diabla" and the plate was $19.99. The plate consisted of white rice and around 6 shrimps in the salsa. (Not even exagerating) My little brother in law is 4 and ordered a pork belly taco and was given that, but with spicy Pico!!! The server was like "oh it has pico" and as he said that, he started scraping off the pico with his fingers in front of us. I ordered the enfrijoladas and told him I was sharing with my 2 year old. When I got my plate, it had spicy green sauce all over the top, so I had to order her a bean and cheese taco (which took another 10 mins to be served). Not to mention, the service was slow. Instead of bringing us all the plates at once, we were given each plate around 8-10 mins apart. So while others waited to get their plate... they watched the others eat. We got there at 1pm and got out around 3pm...it was horrible waiting. Dont waste your time and money at this place!

SAL O MON!!! words cant describe how unbelievably impressed I was eating here…. The atmosphere - the food - the service - the cleanliness! This place is super CLEAN! AND THE BOOZ! The margaritas are the best in New Braunfels. The food…. The BEST mexican food in new braunfels hands down…. I cannot believe how incredibly delicious the chicken verde enchiladas were and the chips and salsa. The rice the beans… EVERYTHING WAS TO DIE FOR. You ever been to a mexican restaurant and they bring like 2 of 3 salsas for the chips and maybe 2 usually just one is good? Not here…. Every salsa they had was filled with flavor BOLD BEAUTIFUL FLAVOR!!! The staff was phenomenal!!! The owner walks around and personally checks on everyone… i mean just unbelievable…. We went on a sunday at 1pm and for the life of me i could not understand why it was not packed… best kept Secret in new braunfels maybe? Do your self a favor and GO TO SAL O MONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I definitely have mixed emotions about my initial visit. There was good and bad hence the 3 star rating for this experience. Let me start with the good. It's obvious that they prepare their food from scratch, from the corn tortillas to the house made sauces. I started with a pork belly taco at $6.50 per taco. I found the meat tasty and crispy as I like it; however that price gets you 5 small pieces of pork belly on a small tortilla. I always look for value when i dine out. Price, portion, taste and presentation. The taco fell short. They top the meat with a little Pico. That taco was screaming for a tasty sauce because it was a dry bite. I also ordered the chilaquiles on their red sauce. The tortilla chips were crispy and the sauce was bold and spicy. The plate comes with one egg and refried beans. I would liked to have a little more of the red sauce because again it was a dry bite. The egg and beans were fine. I won't comment on my wife's meal since I didn't experience it. She ordered cheese enchiladas with white rice. Their hit sauces were very good. Lastly, what I didn't like was that the owner showed up late to open the restaurant. They open at 11am and he arrived at approximately 11:15. Not sure why. It just doesn't make a good first impression. They did work fast to serve us and another first time customer. This restaurant has a very reputation coming from Schertz in their relocation to New Braunfels. Despite all this, I want to go back one more time and give them another shot so I try other menu items. Oh, one more thing, you really can't see the restaurant from 306 because their sign is...

First two experiences here were great! Very homely atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was absolutely DELICIOUS. First trip, I had the asada steak and my girlfriend ordered the al ajo sauteed shrimp (with plenty of garlic and butter sauce I think). Her meal was great, and my asada was literally second to none. Come to find out their beef is sourced from a farm in Mexico, which is pretty cool. Quality sourcing is always a plus. The pork belly appetizer was amazing as well, which included some fried chicharron and carnitas styles of pork, with half an avocado topped with pico de gallo. Second trip for breakfast I had the enfrijoladas, which are basically thick corn tortilla enchiladas stuffed with cheese and refried beans and covered with more cheese and some kind of sauce. Yes, it was as tasty as it sounds. They also offered a delicious spicy avocado sauce to complement the food, which I just topped on the enfrijoladas. These guys mean serious business when it comes to good food, but are as friendly and welcoming as can be toward the customer. Only slight downside is that they seemed a bit understaffed the first time around, but from conversation with the waiter last time this is an issue they are addressing by hiring more staff. This kind of thing can be expected from a brand new start-up! However, even if there is a bit of a wait, I would advise that it is well worth it. Thanks Sal-o-Mon! Keep up the good work and...

I will start by saying this is a restaurant you should definitely try! Not only for the amazing food and relaxed atmosphere but also for the friendly staff/ownership. I suggest that you go into this experience with an open mind and the idea that you are dining on a very authentic meal and forget expectations of other quick service and easy TexMex meals that are a dime a dozed in the area. Go to enjoy the authentic recipe's that obvious come from the chef's heart and life experiences. Go with patience as great food takes time to prepare especially when its this fresh. Have the staff pair a glass of wine with your meal, you wont regret it. We started with the Sal O Mon appetizer which was for sure worth the wait although the portion size was a little small. My wife had the chicken Tacos with rice which to me looked a little plain but she said the Fresh corn tortillas and juicy chicken are a perfect combination. I had the Filet Mignon Fajitas which was absolutely delicious and a must try. The flavors are light and simple but allow you to taste the freshness of the natural ingredients in the dishes. We did not have the desert but I did see that the table next to us ordered the Tres Leches which looked incredible. Maybe next time. We are new to the area and this was a pleasant surprise and just what was needed to end a long week. Hope you find this place as...
