Been going here for years, decades, really. It is a fixture on Easton Avenue and hasn't changed much. Has got some more variety lately, in the menu. And, always affordable. I practically lived off of their hummus sandwich, served on gyro bread (not pita bread, ha ha ha!), but everybody makes hummus slightly differently, and theirs being no exception, their hummus has always had a unique and slightly different taste, from everybody else's. Tried their affordable tuna salad platter recently, and it was good. Great place for college kids (of which I definitely am not!), and always crowded & available, late on weekend nights. And since other places are often closed after midnight, this is the place to go if you're hungry in New Brunswick at 2am (which I occasionally still am, despite being way, way past college kid age...ha ha ha!) Should give 'em 4 stars, but their offerings, though varied & affordable--just aren't that healthy. (Although what college kids' fast food place is, anyway? Certainly wasn't any better when I was in college, way back when...) So, 3 stars for the always available, affordable, good-but-not-great food, here at this endless establishment, Giovanelli's, on Easton Avenue, in the heart of the college district, here in...
Read moreOrdered a large plain pie with onions and peppers through door dash here and they sent over a completely different pie. The order was completely vegetarian and I got a pie that was covered in meat, how do you even mess that up. But my main issue was how they handled it. When I called back the guy on the phone told me I would have to dispute this with doordash which makes no sense because it was his workers fault not the drivers. That would also mean that I would have to repay for an order he messed up on. I then had to sit there while he tried to tell me the guy at the oven remembers putting peppers on the pie and he asked me to confirm what the pizza box looked like. When I argued with him and told him nothing on the pie was what I ordered he finally gave up and sent his driver over with a new pie and asked for the pie he sent by mistake back. Just simply disrespectful and unsanitary. The first pie came at 11:30pm and I didn’t get my replacement till 12:20am. Would...
Read moreGiovanneli's Pizza is one of the few on the opposite side of Hamilton Street along Easton Avenue. For some, it's out of the way, but for those in the vicinity of the Golden Rail Inn and the Corner Tavern, this is a convenient stop before home. The pizzeria is a little tight and can get quite crowded late in the evening. There are places to sit, but most take it to go. This is also one of the few pizzerias that opens before noon, which is why I didn't choose anything unique for a specialty slice, as there wasn't much at 11:30 am when I stopped in. I have heard, however, that their buffalo chicken pizza is decent...not sure I believe it. The slices I ordered were both lacking in the sauce department and were greasier than I liked. The crust and base was bland and flavorless. There was really nothing interesting happening with this pizza for me. When you're coming home after a long night, it might hit the spot, but there are better...
