As salamu alaikum. I found the philly cheesteak to be very good and tasty.
One thing though:
i remember when i ordered a halal philly cheesteake, the cashier guy told the cook to get a "halal philly cheese steak" which indicates this store also sells Haram meat to non muslims and such. However if my inference is correct, this is Haram. Here is the evidence this is not allowed:
Abu Dawood (3488) narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When Allaah forbids the consumption of a thing to some people He also forbids its price to them.” Classed as saheeh (Authentic) by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’ (5107).
Al-Haafiz Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali explained:
Whatever Allaah has forbidden the use of, He also forbids selling it and consuming its price, as is clearly stated in the report quoted above: “When Allaah forbids a thing he also forbids its price.” These words are general in meaning and comprehensive, and apply to everything the use of which is haraam. End quote.
Jaami’ al-‘Uloom wa’l-Hukam (415).
Another constructive criticism I want to point out; although some people may overlook it, we must remember we are not going to live forever and we will be questioned by Allah without any interpreter or intermediary, so we should take these things seriously:
“I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: ‘The angels do not enter any house in which there is a dog or an image.’” (Saheeh Muslim, no. 2104).
(Shaykh ibn Uthaymeen mentioned its haram to put up images of humans on the wall)
And on the left side of this establishment, there are pictures on the wall...
So anyway, I'm assuming the owner is muslim, so please for the sake of Allah take my advice. I am not trolling or anything I am a sincere adviser for you.
Remember that we're going to lose everything in this world except our deeds, and imagine all the bad deeds we get when we are selling haram every day subHanAllah may Allah guide us.
May Allah rectify the issues in this restaurant and then bless it...
Read moreI used to get a fat sandwich all the time from here, but after receiving terrible service I will no longer be getting from R U Hungry. I ordered online and asked for hot wings with the hot sauce on the side and a Fat Darrell with Mac and Cheese. The wings showed up doused in hot sauce and there was no mac & cheese. On looking at the website, there is no "add mac & cheese button", so I charged myself for mozzarella sticks and asked them to substitute (what I usually do and my order comes out correct.) Two items on my order were wrong and I called them back shortly after getting my delivery asking to switch out these items for the correct one or some type of comp as they're not deal breakers to me. I spoke to the manager and he was extremely rude to me. He then told me he would call me back when the delivery driver got back to the store. (Don't know what the delivery driver has to do with my order). And he didn't. I called the store back almost an hour later. The manager texted me a picture of my order which I had already explained to him was wrong, and he continued to fight with me over the phone. I don't usually like leaving bad reviews as someone who works in the food industry, I understand it can get really busy sometimes. But this is unacceptable, the way that I was spoken to like a little child is not how you should treat your customers. I would be more understanding if this was a ten dollar order, but I ordered over $40 worth of food. I won't be getting from them again. They're supposed to call me back now but I don't have any faith that they will as it has been another half hour and over two hours since I placed my original order. Guess I'm just going to eat all this wrong food that I clearly wasted my time and money on. ): To make a long story short, they're food is usually pretty good, but the service...
Read moreNEW BRUNSWICK: being alumni of Rutgers University, we still crave the famous fat sandwiches of the grease trucks. Although the trucks are long gone, RU Hungry Rutgers has a storefront to meet the needs of hungry college students and customers with a huge menu of these famous sandwiches. For those of you that do not know, a fat sandwich is a sub roll stuffed with all the ingredients. Even what you would consider a side dish is loaded into the roll! The Fat Darrell was ranked the #1 sandwich in the country in 2004 by Maxim magazine and is still a favorite over 2 decades later. It is filled with chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, french fries, and marinara sauce. There are 33 meaty sandwiches to choose from and an additional 6 as vegetarian options. The menu also includes buffalo wings, greek/mediterranean options, wraps, salads, quesadillas, cheesesteaks, breakfast sandwiches, and SO MUCH MORE! The prices are very reasonable too with most fat sandwiches being under $12, and it can fill you for 2 meals!
There are a couple of dog friendly tables outside overlooking the Rutgers campus right in “The Yard” at corner of Hamilton St. and College Ave.
Fun fact: Adam Richman of Man vs. Food visited RU Hungry in 2009 to try and beat the challenge of eating 5 fat sandwiches in 45 minutes. Spoiler alert, he lost. You can take the challenge too and if you win, you can create your own sandwich that will be featured on the menu, just like...
