Cafe Java — Restaurant in New Haven

This was an absolute find. I’ve lived in downtown New Haven for 3 years and I’m so sad it too me that long to find this great little cafe that blends right into a corporate building. I highly recommend this place for the food, price and service. The staff is extremely welcoming and willing to be flexible with their menu if they have the ingredients to make you something you like. They do breakfast and lunch Mondays thru Fridays.

Here’s my food reviews for today on a 1-10 scale:

Sausage, Egg and Cheese on Portuguese roll: 7.9 Chicken Cutlet Panini: 8.3 (looks simple but really tasty) Creamy Chicken Gnocchi Soup: 9.3 My wife enjoyed her coffee: 9.0

Thanks to Cathy, Josh, Curt and Bruce for being neighborly. Kudos to Bruce with the homemade soups. Apparently they have like a 30 soup rotation and do New England clam chowder every Thursday.

This is an excellent gem in the New Haven breakfast scene. 100% hands down best breakfast sandwich in the city IMO.

Sausage, egg, and cheese in a Portuguese roll with spicy aioli (Mayo? Whatever.) The roll is absolutely key and they nailed it. The Mayo added a ton to the combo for me but if you’re not into that, omit it.

The coffee was fantastic, I got a medium roast that tasted fresh and had no off flavors consumed black w/o sugar. These guys care about their coffee.

Best of all, if you can beat the best breakfast sandwich, we’re the people. Cathy, Bruce, and Myra were all awesome and talkative and made me feel super welcome.

Let me start by saying I wish I could give this place 6 stars it’s absolutely amazing. !!! Best coffee I’ve ever had and this is comming from a frequent Starbucks drinker. Customer service is unmatchable. From the moment I ordered to the moment I left it was nothing but pleasant. The women behind the cash register made me feel comfortable and was very welcoming I had a lot of questions and she answered them all with a smile. I will for sure be comming here weekly they even have a cute sit down area if your with friends or want to get work done 10/10...
