Probably some of the worst Cafe coffee I've had in New Haven, the cold brew was extremely bitter and oily. Extra criticism for calling those bagels. The atmosphere is.... very sterile and overly curated. Filled with fake plants and a strange vibe. Service was rude, and prices are steep.
TLDR. It's offensively mediocre.
Edit: After reading your response. The coffee wasn't good. For $5.25 which is about average price-wise. It wasn't terrible so I could see people buying it. The bagel looked like it was brought in from somewhere else, not baked in-house like you're leading people to believe with your "upping production" etc. Sure I could be wrong but there was no space in the cafe for making bagels.
The man at the counter gave my partner a weird look for asking about non-dairy butter and then didn't ask her if she wanted her bagel toasted he just did it. I consider that to be "just going through the motions". The man making coffees was great though, so I'll up the service to three stars. He was pleasant and said bye to me on the way out.
I never said I was in a bad mood, and the assertion that i am lying is quite frankly childish. I just left a cheeky review because this Cafe felt soulless and like a great location with lots of promise and I was disappointed. The view of the green and the location on a busy corner in New Haven was quaint. So responding in the way you did to criticism is unfortunate. As a consumer, I am allowed to voice criticism, it's unfortunate that you would like me to never come back as everyone has an off day and I would have much preferred a constructive response that made me feel like you value your customers....

The space, with its industrial-chic vibes and herringbone floors, feels like it was designed by a decorator who really understood the assignment of "make it Instagram-worthy."
Yes, their matcha latte might cost more than Starbucks while packing less punch (think heavyweight price, lightweight flavor), but what you're really paying for is prime people-watching real estate. On any given day, you'll find a perfect cross-section of Yale academics typing away furiously on their laptops, local business folks in pressed suits engaging in what appears to be very important conversations, and the occasional confused tourist wondering why their coffee took so long to make.
The Google rating suggests I'm not alone in being charmed by the genuinely friendly staff who manage to maintain their warmth even during the morning rush. The angel-winged cups are a nice touch, though at these prices, one might expect, or hope that actual angels to deliver their drink.
Pros: Light so good your selfies won't need filters Staff who remember your name (and actually seem happy about it) Prime location for professional procrastination
Cons: Your wallet might feel lighter than their matcha Limited weekend hours (sorry, late risers)
Bottom line: FEPO has mastered the art of making you feel ok about spending $7 on a coffee because look at those windows! And that lighting! And all these interesting people to watch while you pretend to work on...
