I ordered a vegan birthday cake for my husband, and the quality was so poor. His name was misspelled, but more importantly, the edges were completely burnt and hard. The cake literally crunched when we cut into it :( The video shows me tapping on the sides - it was hard as a brick. When I called to see what they could do to resolve this, her first response was to say they don't do refunds. She then offered me credit, which I declined because we won't be going back there. I'd recommend looking elsewhere for baked goods. Edit to add - not sure why they said I hung up; I politely said "thank you for your time, bye-bye" at the end of the conversation. It's definitely okay to be upset/embarrassed about a bad review, but the dishonesty is really disappointing :/

I'd left a 5/5 earlier because working with Katalina was an excellent experience, it was simple and easy placing my order for my sister's birthday cake. But I just got a photo from my sis (please pardon the fact that it's partially eaten) and I'm kind of surprised... I kind of expected Katalina to decorate and write on the cake, but it turns out one of her high-school assistants made it-- after seeing the birthday cake in the reviews (the Happy Birthday Culver one) I thought the cake would look more or less the same because they're both red velvet cakes, but I guess I should have been and specific and requested Katalina to decorate.

I would give them 0 stars if possible. I am so beyond disappointed and upset. I ordered a cake for my mother's 50th birthday party and THIS was the writing they put on the cake. How could they be professionals and deem that acceptable and expect someone to be okay with paying for it. It looks like a child wrote it and it doesn't even fit properly on the cake. And the cake itself tasted like pure baking soda. We had to throw the cake out because it tasted terrible. The only good thing about this was the frosting. I will never order from them again.

Do not trust what they tell you about pricing or time estimates over the phone. Get something in writing from them or risk them taking back what they said—and rudely. They went back on what they told me over the phone a week earlier. I called them early in September to ask whether they made pineapple upside down cakes. They told me it wasn’t a standard cake but that they were willing to accommodate. I was told to place the order at least 48 hours in advance and that it would be $25 plus tax for a 6” cake. I called well in advanced of the 48 hour mark to place the order and was told that they needed at least a week to make the cake and that the cheapest option was 8” $45. I don’t know if multiple people work there, if they just don’t communicate with each other, or if pricing and timing depends on their mood that day. Regardless, I will never try to order or buy...

Nine of my coworkers went to Katalina's and purchased coffee and treats; I was just meeting them for a few minutes... I had a tea in my hand from another establishment. The owner waited until we were getting ready to leave to confront me in front of everyone and tell me not to bring drinks from other places. Now, I understand that policy from a business-perspective, but the way she handled it was unprofessional and unnecessarily confrontational. I tried to apologize to her and explain some context, but she walked away while I was talking and glared at me from behind the counter. I had no problem with Katalina's before this but how this situation was handled was so rude that I don't think I feel comfortable coming back. Very...
