We booked a loft style suite. Room 149. If they give you this room, do not take it. We thought the room was beautiful and pretty clean. The only issue was the water pressure in the shower was pretty weak. The first night of being there there was noises at 3 AM sounding like carts rolling. It woke all three of us up. We didn’t know if it was car rolling, or the sound of a trash pick up. This reoccurred for each night that we were here. We stayed for four nights. After the first night, we thought it was just a fluke so we didn’t say anything until the second night. I went to the manager the next day and told him about the room issue. Unfortunately since it was New Year’s Eve holidays, he did not have any other room that he could offer us. I told him then can you offer us anything else in the form of a reimbursement because, well, you go to a hotel to sleep after all, and we were not sleeping. He told us he can only offer us a $100 credit towards the incidentals. I told him we paid like $2000 for the room. $100 for incidentals for us not sleeping for two nights is unacceptable. I asked him since it’s New Year’s Eve. Do you think that they’ll still be doing deliveries or whatever the heck that noise was. He told me no he doesn’t think that there will be because it’s New Year’s Eve. That night we only slept for three hours. They did their delivery at four in the morning. We had gone outside and realized they put us right next to the delivery entrance/trash pick up area. On New Year’s Day, so our third night sleeping there, I went to the front desk and informed the lady at the front desk that the issue had still persisted and asked if she still remembered that I was talking to her manager about this yesterday. Seemingly she was irritated by the fact that I had come back, and said “yes I remember you” while she tapped her pen angrily. I asked for her manager. He told me that there was nothing else he could do other than the $100 toward the incidental. I told him that if I contact Expedia and they contact his hotel will he able to do better than this? He said I should contact them, and he will see what he can do. Wasn’t sure what that meant but I decided to contact Expedia anyways. thankfully, Expedia was able to negotiate a one night stay refund. All I can say is some of the front desk staff isn’t very friendly. I informed the manager that if they are going to sell room 149 to people, they need to offer it at a discount because it’s right next to the delivery/trash pick up area. In the mornings, we would go and try to get coffee which they serve by the bar. 3/4 of the times, they were out of the coffee. 2/4 of the times, they actually refilled it! The other time, we asked if they would refill it, we waited, and they never refilled it. Their restaurant is decent but overpriced. Food anywhere else walking distance is like 8-10$ cheaper. They often have someone open the front door to the hotel for you which is nice. The entire rest of the staff besides the front desk is very nice and hospitable. It is walking distance from Bourbon Street and Jackson Square. The hotel was cutely decorated for Christmas/NYE. Hopefully they come up with a solution for room 149 and some of the front desk can change...
Read moreReview: Bourbon Orleans Hotel – Mixed Experience
Our stay at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel had both highlights and disappointments. While the location and comfort were great, several key issues made the experience less enjoyable than expected.
Pros: • Prime Location: The hotel’s location is unbeatable—right in the heart of the French Quarter. It’s within walking distance to Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, and Frenchmen Street, and it’s perfectly situated for Mardi Gras parades. • Inviting Entry & Atmosphere: The hotel smells great upon entry, giving a welcoming first impression. • Helpful Doormen: The doormen were consistently friendly and helpful. • Nice Restaurant & Bar: The on-site restaurant and bar were convenient and provided a nice atmosphere to relax. • Comfortable Beds: The beds and pillows were very comfortable, making it easy to rest after long days exploring. • Quiet Pool-Facing Rooms: Rooms facing the pool are a great option if you want to avoid street noise. • Recently Updated Rooms: The rooms have a refreshed, modern feel. • Good Security During Mardi Gras: Security was well-managed, which was reassuring given the crowds. • Spacious Mini-Fridge: The in-room mini-fridge was a great size, comfortably holding a few 12-packs of beer or leftovers.
Cons: • Terrible Water Pressure: The main showerhead barely functioned, forcing us to use the smaller handheld showerhead. • Unreliable Housekeeping: Housekeeping was hit or miss—some days they restocked everything properly, while other days essentials were missing. • Short Supply of Hot Water: The hot water in the shower only lasted a few minutes before turning lukewarm. • Low-Quality Toiletries: The provided body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were extremely poor quality—bring your own.
Paranormal Disappointment:
One of the reasons I was excited to stay here was the hotel’s haunted reputation. After reading reviews about ghost sightings, I was hopeful I’d have my first paranormal experience. Unfortunately, I saw nothing—no ghostly figures, no strange noises, nothing out of the ordinary. If this place is haunted, the ghosts must have been on vacation. Still a non-believer!
Overall Verdict:
The Bourbon Orleans Hotel has a lot of positives, especially in terms of location, comfort, and security. However, the water pressure issues, inconsistent housekeeping, and lackluster amenities were disappointing. If you’re staying here, expect a great location but bring your own toiletries—and don’t get your hopes up for any...

We arrived early, checked our bags & were told they would call when our room was ready... We were never informed our room was ready.
Upon arrival, glitter was still riddled throughout the downstairs of the hotel room... I asked for service everyday & informed Demetrius (manager) of the glitter, the glitter was still there when I left. No vacuum was used the entire time I was there from what I could tell.
My mother has a compromised immune system due to chemotherapy... One of the Bell men was working while visibly sick on our first day.... Touching bags, doors, guests, etc.
I had a loft suite... The key pad upstairs wasn't working... My mother is very weak due to chemotherapy and cannot walk up and down the stairs... Gorge & Robin at the front desk told me to go in on the 3rd floor & let my Mom into the 4th floor door myself instead of fixing the door. When I informed them that that was against the law, they called over a security guard & threatened to make me leave the hotel.
Also, the loft suites should be updated to have at least a toilet on the first floor, not just a sink.
The first night I had an outdoor table on my patio... One of the neighbors climbed over the railing to my balcony & stole my outdoor patio furniture... I asked for a replacement the remainder of my trip, never received a replacement.
Elliot, at the coffee shop, was the only pleasant staff I encountered. But, $4 for a regular coffee the most hotels give away for free is a bit ridiculous! In addition, the coffee maker in our room was broken.
I have been staying at this hotel for 10 years... I paid A LOT of money to give my mother a good experience in New Orleans (as it may be her last)... Unfortunately, Bourbon Orleans did not deliver & this was not the experience I was expecting. The customer service was dismal compared to every other time I have been there. Front desk staff was unapologetic, unhelpful and horribly rude. The facility is dirty, old & hasn't been updated since well before my first visit to this hotel. I will not be a staying at this facility again.
After all this... I WAS OVER CHARGED by $500+ and the company who handles their account on my Credit card statement no longer handles their account... So now I have to deal with that 🙄
Not worth the money or...
