ONE STAR BECAUSE ZERO ISN’T AN OPTION!! I will start off by saying this was my first stay at Hotel St. Pierre. My husband had stayed there 8 years ago and couldn’t say enough great things about it, so when we planned this trip he wanted me to be able to experience the great time he had. Let me tell you, that DID NOT happen. We made our two-night reservation online approximately 3 weeks before our trip, and paid the full fee of $438.94 for our two-night stay. First of all, immediately upon our arrival the man (and I use that word VERY loosely) at the front desk was extremely rude. THEN he informs us that there were additional fees due to the tune of $170.99 for “hotel amenity fees” and “valet parking” that weren’t charged when the reservation was made. We parked our own car, it was in their small lot literally right across the street and visible right out the door of the hotel front desk. He did confiscate our keys at check-in, so I assume that’s what they call “valet parking”. When we started questioning the additional charges, which was our right because none of it was disclosed at the time we made our reservation, he became extremely defensive and passive aggressive. He liked to repeat to us over and over that he is the “assistant manager” and he “has been here for over 7 years and that’s just how they do it”. This was NOT my husband’s experience 8 years ago, keep in mind. We finally get into our room. It is rinky dink, run down, tv doesn’t work, has a microwave but no mini fridge - just an empty hole where one should be - and when we showered the bathroom floor FLOODED because the bottom of the shower door leaked like crazy, on top of the water smelling like straight sewage. Our white bed sheets and towels had dark brown stains all over them and also smelled like sewage water. We brought drinks for the room, so not having a fridge we had to try to make it work with the little 6x6 ice bucket, which barely held three drinks (insert eye-rolling emoji here). Whatever, at this point we’re just annoyed with the whole experience so far, we drove from 5 hours away and it is Memorial Day weekend so finding somewhere else to stay on such short notice wasn’t an option. So, we unpack and head out to experience NOLA. We get back to our room around 8:30 PM, ready to try to relax and get some rest. ALL NIGHT LONG had to deal with the people in the room next to us banging around making noise, so needless to say absolutely zero sleep was had. We ended up leaving after night number one, because the entire experience at this “hotel” had just been horrible.
Long story short, if you’re looking for a nice place to stay where you can actually get what you pay for and enjoy a good nights sleep after a long day of sightseeing, Hotel St. Pierre is NOT the place for you. BUT, if you enjoy waaaay overpriced crap holes where you won’t get any sleep and get scammed out of an extra almost $200 when you check in, please go see Larry. He is the assistant manager, he is probably pushing 60 and his big flex is that he’s worked at this hotel for over 7 years (as I’m sure you will also have to hear a ridiculous amount of times if you have any real questions or issues). He would LOVE to assist you and will personally ensure that this is your experience as well. And it’s pretty safe to say that judging from his attitude and how we were treated, you can most likely contribute this hotel’s drastic decline over the past 8 years directly to...
Read moreI would like to start off by saying we have stayed here before and loved it so we booked again for 11 days till our permanent residence was ready.
Everything was fine until our AC went out three days before we checked out. It went out on Friday evening June 7th 10pm. My husband and I work evenings and don't get off work till very late. When I got back to our room late Friday night I realized the AC was not coming on and the temperature in the room was still 75. Now mind you it is summer here in New Orleans so if you have ever been here it is HOT!
Saturday morning at 9:30am I went down to the deck and reported that it wasn't working so they put in a work order to fix it.
Saturday evening when I returned I asked the front deck if it had been fixed, he looked at the work order and said YES. I went to my room and seen that it was still 75 , 11:00pm I returned to the desk to inform them that it was still not working. The maintenance man was standing there and said he fixed it but would go and check something else.. OK fine. I waited about an hour at which point I was certain that was a flat out lie.
Midnight came and there was a different front deck person so I told him that the maintenance man was supposed to do something about our AC not working and he said SORRY ITS MIDNIGHT ma'am there isn't anything we can do about it!
Sunday June 9th on my way out I reported it again and got zero response not even well we can put you in another room etc. Maybe they didn't have another room to put us in due to a few events going on in the quarter, I get it but you mean to tell me you don't have a portable AC unit you could put in my room until you fixed it? That is what we used to have to do with residents in the apartment complexes.
Monday morning I went to the deck to ask for a late checkout again cause we work very late. I told the gentleman behind the deck that he might not want to rent that room out until they fixed the AC and that it had been out for now going on 4 days. All I got was a confused look and a small sorry. WOW THANKS!!!
They should have all of this in the computer. They had that we had a pet in the room but you mean to tell me there were no notes saying that we have an issue with the AC?
We have both been general contractors that used to rehab apartments complexes in the Houston area and several around the Texas areas as well for around 15 years.
My husband doesn't go into work now until 5pm. No one ever came to or in our room to actually look at the thermostat. We know it had nothing to do with the thermostat but problem solving starts with the basics. At this point I was very upset cause we paid a-lot of money to stay here.
They should have all of this in the computer. They had that we had a pet in the room but you mean to tell me there were no notes saying that we have an issue with the AC? So needless to say we went without AC for 4 day and our response was OH WELL SORRY!!!!!
I happened to run into the hotel manager by the pool. I explain to him our situation so he came up to my room took a picture of the thermostat looked at me and said well it’s 74 now, we will fix it when you leave. This was at 11 o’clock in the morning the ceiling fan was on high, and the thick curtains were closed , the lack of concern is downright disappointing. As my husband and I were leaving, my husband stopped and made his own remark in a very polite way, and the guy behind the desk just shrugged...
Read moreWe stayed from 8/2/22-8/5/22. It's a lovely older hotel, I prefer that because you can feel this place has history. It is very safe, there are no sketchy characters hanging around. I know Hotel St Pierre is several older buildings, so I am sure each and every room is different. We booked through third party app (Expedia), this was our first stay here. Everything was wonderful, the best feature is how close it is to everything in The French Quarter, plus it is a very walkable two blocks north of Bourbon Street. So many bars + eateries nearby, I never had to use my car once during our stay. It is pet friendly, safe, my husband is a combat veteran, so he was able to relax here, nothing triggering. I was surprised I did not see more people here. Louis Armstrong Park is only a block away on Rampart Street, I was able to walk there with our dog. I was also able to walk to Canal Street, Esplanade Street, down to Decatur to The French Market, Jackson Square, Cafe Du Monde, St Louis Cemetery #1, plus get picked up for Cajun Encounters Swamp Tour on Rampart Street. There is a grocery store/ deli directly across the street with an ATM. Everything nearby, it was great. Rooms were clean, no odors. Only had some minor issues, like a lightbulb burned out, toilet was running, so when I checked out, I wrote a note to staff in lobby to pass on to their handyman. Staff were super nice, never rude. We had a small refrigerator & microwave in our room, great for keeping our takeout & drinks cold. We got a very simple basic room, double beds downstairs, with wonderful air conditioning. We had a bathtub/ shower in our bathroom. It was a great place for us to rest, recharge, shower between all our tourist sightseeing activities. There were two small pools that I saw a family with kids use, but we did not, we were too busy. Hotel St Pierre has a kitty that hangs out by the pool, my poor dog kept going up to her, wanting to play because his best friend is our cat, St Pierre Kitty was not having it. I think this is a great hotel for everyone, the other guests I saw were a mixed bag: Families, Couples, Tourists, LGBTQ, Tourists, Europeans, Germans. They also sell some snacks (candy) in the lobby. You do have to pay to park, we parked in the lot nearest the lobby, the other lot was a little further away. I am really not going to complain about that, I think all French Quarter hotels charge because parking is so limited. It is too risky to not park in the parking lots, if you park on the street, you will get towed by City of New Orleans. Great Place,...
