When my friend and I arrived at the hotel upon check in there was a guest complaining at the front desk and was upset that her internet and TV didn’t work. The way the employee behind the desk handled that was by using profanity and acting completely unprofessional about her issues she brought up (it didn’t sound like it was the first time). This should have been a sign but my friend and I brushed it off thinking that this was just another Karen situation.
When we arrived in our room we started having the same issues as the lady downstairs. Our TV also did not work.
The first thing I noticed about the room other than the TV was that there was mold in the shower and the curtains were nasty.
The next day we were unable to connect to the internet. We brought this issue up to the staff multiple times. We were told to try to keep reconnecting even after we had told them that it wasn’t working no matter what we did.
Later on we were told someone from “engineering” would be coming up to fix it. After waiting 90 minutes-no one did.
We went to the front desk later on and reported our issue for a third time and also reported that no one came to our room and we were told and I quote “the hotel is booked at 100% capacity so we won’t be able to connect to the internet”. Ridiculous.
This is a problem especially if you are someone who works remote or like me who goes to school online. Even though I was on vacation I was still planning to set aside time to turn in assignments. I was unable to do so because this amenity that I paid for was not available and no one told us at check in that this was clearly a known issue.
Not to mention they also offer a “fitness center” the fitness center has no working equipment. So don’t plan on training while you stay here-if that is something that is important to you.
There was very noticeable mold in the shower. Grime and mildew all over the ceiling in the bathroom. There was also a hole in the bathroom ceiling that had a light in it. The amount of dust that was in there was disgusting and gnat/flies kept coming out of this hole-whatever it was.
Beware-the thermostat also does not work.
The curtain was cut all the way to the top so we couldn’t close it. Honestly, it was so disgusting you wouldn’t want to touch it anyways. All the dust and grime on those curtains were disgusting. There were stains on the comforter as well. Also, there were brown drip marks on the bathroom door and grime build up by the mirror. There are also no wash cloths-just giant hand towels.
Halfway through our stay our room cards were deactivated. We were made to feel like it was somehow our fault. We were told “not to put the key next to your credit cards or your phone as it will demagnetize the cards”-not true. You should be able to put your room key in your wallet. Then we were told that the person probably didn’t put the dates in correctly-whatever.
The elevator in the lobby stopped working several times. The elevator we used was in the back of the hotel and it was absolutely disgusting. Pictures of this elevator are attached because I honestly don’t know how to describe in words how disgusting it was.
In lieu of all of our troubles I requested a late check out comped by the hotel. It was approved but I just had a feeling that it would not be communicated because nothing here is. The next day I went down to the lobby to check that we had the correct check out time. Surprise! We didn’t. We were told that a late check out would be $75. Once again my friend and I had to fight for something that was already approved the day before. We were made to feel like we made it up. Eventually we were able to get our check out covered-but again we had to fight for it.
Some of these things I could get over if the staff had tried to be more accommodating and professional. Unfortunately this was not the case. This hotel was not the most expensive-but also far from cheap and not a “steal”. Honestly I should’ve asked for a credit. Upon checking out I just wanted...
Read moreOur recent stay at Maison Dupuy was a complete disappointment, and the lack of assistance from management has left us frustrated and disillusioned with the entire experience.
We specifically booked this hotel based on the promise of a New Year’s Eve dinner with live music at the hotel restaurant, which was a priority for us given that we have two young children (ages 7 and 2). We were visiting for the sports game- and did NOT want to be out on the sketchy town for dinner with young kids. Priority was safety. Not only was there no such promised event, which multiple people told us of such. Jasmine even told us we lied and no one could have possibly told us such… Shocking customer service. We were also forced to venture out in the dark to find food in what felt like an unsafe environment. In indeed, devastatingly, ended up being the street where the bourbon street tragedy occurred, God rest their souls. As a mother, I have been shaking since realizing how close we came to being there with our family. Thanks be to God, we are safe.
Unfortunately The issues didn’t stop there. We were also told by a lady that brunch would be available on New Year's Day from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, but instead it ended at 10:00 AM. When we inquired, she admitted to providing incorrect information and offered a sincere apology. Jasmine stated this brunch was never planned or scheduled, yet the manager attempted to say it was planned and then cancelled due to the tragedy. No one else confirmed this info- it seemed like an attempt on her part to appease the situation with yet another lie.
This led us to walk seven blocks with our children just to find breakfast as well, adding further stress to an already frustrating stay.
On top of these miscommunications, we were also confronted with an unexpected parking issue. Upon arrival, there was no available parking at the hotel, forcing us to park five blocks away in an area that felt unsafe, particularly at night.
The most upsetting aspect, however, was the unprofessional and dismissive customer service we encountered during our checkout. When I raised the issues we had experienced, a staff member rudely called me a liar, claiming that no one on her team could have provided incorrect information. This response was in stark contrast to what Chantrelle had admitted the day before. Chantrelle tho misinformed, was kind, sinceree, sweet and lovely versus Jasmine whom rolled her eyes and was insulting. When I demonstrated that the website didn’t provide the information she claimed it did, the staff member refused to address the issue and simply rolled her eyes while assisting another guest, completely ignoring me.
Given the significant distress, inconvenience, and lack of accountability, Chantrelle told us she would submit for a service refund. Instead the next morning, Jasmine at first offered $100 back in parking until she realized we only parked one night and she quickly recanted the $100 and went to only $50. Beware- this hotel charges FIFTY to park at their hotel otherwise your left to wander the streets unsafe in the dark to find other parking.
Unfortunately, despite our efforts to resolve the situation, no refund or compensation was offered, and our concerns were ignored.
The overall experience was unacceptable, and we would strongly advise against booking a stay at Maison Dupuy unless you are prepared for serious miscommunication and a lack of...
Read moreMy friend and I spent 3 nights here and we just checked out today. I'm not normally a complainer, however we had so many issues that went unresolved and poor experiences with staff that I felt it only right to share with others so they will know what to anticipate.
PROS:
Location was great, on a quiet part of the French quarter, and only a short walk bars, restaurants and anything you want to do in the French quarter
Outdoor courtyard area was beautiful and very comfortable. Get sun beside the pool or stretch out in one of the outdoor day beds. So nice.
CONS:
Wifi and TV did not work. We were told repeatedly to keep trying and put in the password. We told them it was not working. They told us to keep trying that it will work. Later we found out it was a known issue, but they failed to disclose to us upon checking in. We reported the TV not working , they told us they would send engineering up. Waiting 90 minutes - nobody came. Next day they told us nobody would have come because it was a known issue that wifi and tvs don't work if they book near capacity.
Room in poor condition. Moldy shower, worn down/ discolored ceiling tiles. Brown drips on bathroom door. Right side of our curtains had been cut with scissors and we could not close fully. Stains on curtains. Stain on comforter. Baseboards dirty / in disrepair.
Elevator had a bad odor and was visibly dirty.
Staff does not communicate with each other well, and treats guests poorly. We witnessed staff treating other guests poorly when they were reporting issues similar to ours. We asked to speak to a manager and we're told no managers were in. We asked for a late checkout and for it to be comped at least since we had such a poor experience. Staff member arranged this for us. The next morning we checked with front desk and we're told it would be $75. She gaslit us, poor attitude tried to blame the issues on us as if we didn't report it. We did report issues. She asked for name of who we reported to. Note for any of you - log names and times of everything if you have issues. After a few minutes wait they did approve our late checkout and comped it but it was a struggle.
Gym equipment not working / had out of order signs
They deactivated our key cards in error, then tried to blame on my friend and I that we deactivated it ourselves by having too close to another credit card. (Was not true!)
Thermostat worked sometimes but not others.
Lastly, no wash clothes so I had to wash myself with a hand towel
Hole in bathroom with light bulb in it was missing a cover maybe? Unsure but gnats kept flying out of it
Whoever owns this hotel has some work to do with the rooms, amenities and staff. Will not...
