The list is long of everything wrong with this hotel. First when we got to the room I noticed how my king size bed was not a king size bed. Had to wait almost a half hour for someone to come up and “inspect”the size. The woman who checked was extremely rude and told me king size beds in hotels are smaller than regular size king beds. They said I could check out with money refunded and book another hotel which they know would’ve been impossible to do last minute for 5 days so I had to deal with it. Next the actual bedding itself was stained. The furniture in the room was stained. The carpeting was stained. The window shade was stained. No microwave in the room only one located in the lobby. There was a cafe area but never saw anyone there. Brought food from outside to my room but didn’t have any forks so went to the cafe area to see if they had any. Nothing, but there was an employee in the lobby and asked me if I needed anything and got me some behind the counter. He was genuinely the nicest person I encountered there. There were no amenities in the room but one tiny bar of soap and one tiny lotion. Mind you this was a suite with 2 sinks that had three people in it. What should’ve been the shampoo, conditioner and body wash that is built inside the shower had it as body wash, conditioner and body wash. Who needs shampoo right??! It had a mini fridge with no water stocked in it. New Orleans with 90+ degree weather you would think would have free water bottles given to their guests for what is supposed to be a high end hotel. Only 4 paper/plastic cups in the room that were never restocked during housekeeping so had to reuse them for the 5 days we were there. Only one roll of toilet paper that ran out on our last day there and would’ve ran out sooner had I not had my own flushable wipes. You had to take 2 elevators to get to your room. One of the days one of the elevators wasn’t working. No sign saying anything alerting the guests. Had to walk down 4 flights of stairs. For me that is horrible because I have an injured knee that walking down stairs is very painful to do and I have to walk down one step at a time. The bedroom and bathroom had sliding doors that are heavy and not flushed against the wall so they kinda swing. We all had to be careful because we would pinch our fingers a few times when we closed them. Visible mold in shower. Sofa bed had a horrible mattress that caused my cousin back pain. The “king” size mattress was lumpy and soft. Pillows were also lumpy and not firm. Bedding for the sofa bed was the scratchiest blanket I’ve ever seen and unusable. They claimed to have Netflix and HBO. They did not. They had the apps. Everyone has access to apps they are free!!!! Limited tv channels otherwise. There was a fitness center that had a pool but I never saw where the pool was because everything is behind closed doors with no signs. It would’ve been trying to guess what was behind the doors. I tried to open a few to see and some were locked or janitor closets so I gave up on that one. Why this hotel is even called “courtyard” is a mystery since there is no courtyard. When we left and were supposed to fly home our flight ended up getting canceled and the airline gave us hotel vouchers for the night. We stood at a best western and that hotel was WAY BETTER than the Marriott we had spent so much money for!! We were given 2 rooms one with a king size bed and the bed was massive!! That was a true king size bed and obvious that hotels don’t have smaller than normal king size beds like that Marriott woman stated. It was firmer and way more comfortable also. The room had everything the Marriott room did not and was pristine in how clean it was. They also offered free breakfast in the morning! Was amazing how a hotel that charges $300 a night was such a horrible experience but the $85 a night hotel surpassed them in every...

First, let me say that we had excellent service from everyone working here. I give it 6+ stars just for the service! From the friendly woman who checked us in, to the lady who gave me extra coffee or the one who got us a late check-out to the valet who hailed us a taxi. Everyone was professional and polite, and they always had a smile on their face!
The rooms appear to be renovated, and we thought ours was very nice and clean. We had a room with two king beds. This was great, since I was traveling with my 16-year-old son. I took the bedroom, and we both felt like we had good privacy and our own space. I really liked how they had tiled the bathroom, too. Was nice having a refrigerator and coffee maker in our room with a little sink area. No microwave, but that's okay - we never had leftovers!
So, here is why I couldn't give it five stars - my son likes the room cold. The thermostat/fan was in the bedroom. He would want it cold, but it seemed like only the bedroom was really getting cold, so I would be freezing at night! Also, the buttons on the thermostat didn't always work, so you had to push the buttons over and over to get it to finally change.
Doors didn't seem to want to stay closed. We had a drawer that wouldn't stay closed, but maintenance did fix that immediately. Then, another one kept opening but would stay closed if you closed it slowly. The door to the bathroom would sometimes start to slide open. The door to the shower wouldn't close completely, so you would get some extra water on the floor. All pretty minor things.
The view sucked - was of a wall of more hotel rooms. You could at least see if it was sunny. AND I am glad I looked out one evening as I discovered that the one sheer shade was NOT totally private during the evening if you had lights on - it was deceiving! You could see into the room unless you pulled down the second shade.
Lastly, things were pretty quiet up on the 9th floor until Friday (we stayed Tuesday - Friday). Then, a wedding party arrived, and boy were they LOUD. We could hear entire conversations. But that was our last night there, and it didn't really prevent us from sleeping or anything. Just not the best on sound insulation (or maybe those people were just THAT loud, lol).
Oh, the location was really good as well. We liked being on the edge of the French Quarter. Was convenient to jumping on the streetcar out to the Garden District as well as many great restaurants (HIGHLY recommend Mr. B's Bistro and Bayona - and even Mahoney's is pretty good for a peacemaker po-boy). This was a plus since there isn't really a restaurant on-site, just the marketplace and maybe a Starbucks? We never got anything at either, always ventured out for food/drinks. We were never worried about our safety at this location either.
Overall, it ain't the Ritz-Carlton (which is right next door), however, it was a great stay, especially for the cost. I would definitely...

Those were the first words spoken to me by the valet when we pulled into the hotel. Not "welcome", not "hello", not "how was your trip", those were the first words I was greeted with (more than once during my stay), that was my first impression of this establishment and that should have been the first indicator of what to expect. Among the issues we encountered were a dirty cleaning rag on our bathroom vanity (photo attached), an ottoman which has seen better days (photo attached) and a view which was incredibly underwhelming (photo attached). Additionally, many of the rooms face an ugly atrium in the middle of the building and no attempt has been made to make this space even the least bit attractive (photo attached) and the parking area off Iberville Street is an obstacle course to maneuver through, especially in an F150 truck. The entrance to the hotel itself, the lobby and access to the rooms is on the 2nd floor which is a bit odd and confusing to start but in my opinion does add an extra layer of security as anyone would have to go past the front desk to get to elevator leading to the rooms. The hotel itself is nice and located very close to both Canal Street and the French Quarter and all its charm yet, as mentioned by others, far enough away so that the associated noise is not a hinderance to your slumber. The lobby itself is nice and the rooms were decent, as expected for this type of hotel, excluding the view although the hallways can be a bit confusing as there are a few nooks to navigate through...you'll see when you get there. Also, the hotel is inexplicably connected to the Ritz and you are able to get into that hotel through a hallway. I know Marriott is the parent company of the Ritz-Carlton company but it is still very odd how they are connected, but that hotel does have a nice bar you can visit if that's your preference. The minimal interaction we had with the cleaning staff was friendly and the interaction with the front desk personnel was a bit hit or miss. One very nice lady helped us book a city tour on Sunday, June 6th and she was exceptionally friendly and helpful however I am unable to recall her name. A special thanks to her.
Overall the place is nice, yet quirky, the staff is a bit hit/miss, the views will mostly disappoint but the price is reasonable. I did make an attempt to speak with the general manager whose initials are J.R. to discuss some of the concerns I had, especially my first impression, but I guess I was not worth the call...
