This is my second review of Cafe Roma. I was back in New Orleans this week and wanted to try Cafe Roma again. About two months ago I went with a group of people but this time I went alone. I was the only customer dining in the restaurant but there were several to-go orders while I was there. Last time I had a sandwich so this time I wanted to try something different. I ordered a small Caesar salad and a small margarita pizza. My salad came out first and it was absolutely delicious. The ingredients were very fresh, homemade croutons were super crunchy and flavorful, they really piled on the parmigiana, which I love and the Caesar dressing was bright and tangy. The margarita pizza is one of the best I’ve ever had. There was so much cheese it was almost absurd, in a really delicious way! The crust was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I really enjoyed the addition of minced garlic to the top. The waiter was the younger guy that was there before. As before he was very polite and no intrusive. When I finished my meal I asked for the check and since I had some time left before I needed to go back to the office I asked if he minded if I sat for a while. He graciously said of course and even brought me some ice water when I saw I had finished my drink. Over all a wonderful and relaxing experience and I will be back and look forward to trying another item on the menu. Thank you Cafe Roma for your hospitality.

Went yesterday and was ignored by server who walked past us several times without a “hi, I’ll be right over.” An older grumpy looking man behind the counter also ignored us. There was ONE table with to-go boxes leaving so this place was NOT crowded. It was basically EMPTY besides us. We were about to leave when the frazzled server acknowledged us. Food came without utensils or napkins…just basic restaurant and customer service is lacking here. We only came bc Cafe Reconcile which has STUDENT workers was packed and couldn’t seat us. I see why this place is empty. We didn’t feel welcomed and won’t be returning. I don’t think they like minorities here even though they’re on ORETHA CASTLE HALEY STREET!! Was not worth the $$$.

Went around 9pm on a Saturday and it was mostly empty. Sat down, Got mozzarella sticks that were very mid and frozen prepared in the fryer. 2/5. I ordered lasagna, which came with cesar salad and garlic cheese bread, my sister got shrimp alfredo with salad and garlic cheese bread. The cesar salad was okay, better if they used real parmesean grated cheese or flakes. The lasagna was cold two bites into eating it. My sisters alfredo was the best thing we ate. It was garlicky, good, hot, generous with shrimp, and a good portion. I sent my lasagna back and ate her pasta with her. Should have gotten a pizza. Also they were short staffed and it took forever to get the check.

The most mediocre shrimp Alfredo I've ever had. Good service, clean establishment and lovely atmospher I must say.

I was the only person at the restaurant so there was no rush or need to be in a hurry to prepare my food. So let's get into this dish ... Basic at best, nothing to sing or write about and that's disappointing because eating in New Orleans I expected more of them.

The shrimp were really small and not seasoned AT ALL. You would think an Italian restaurant would offer a hint of garlic and seasoning but no there was nothing. It was just thrown into the skillet with the linguine and Alfredo sauce.

The linguine was a perfect texture and the Alfredo had a nice BASIC homemade Alfredo taste (I've have more flavor from a Bertolli jar by far). So before you get caught on the word "homemade" I only mean that it was made from scratch. Not that it was made with flavor, love, or a whisper from their Italian ancestors letting them know to put a sprinkle of garlic and herbs in the food. It was disappointing to say the least.

On the plus side the food was made fresh and the small slice of garlic cheese bread was the real MVP of my meal. It was the only thing truly flavorful that made me smile.

I had a small Caesar salad and I have no complaints the lettuce was good produce and the dressing was delicious.

I'm just disheartened to say that the small side pieces were the standout stars of my meal. For $23 I would have gotten a better meal from Olive garden (and I have not eaten at Olive garden in over 15 years). No shade to olive garden I'd eat there if I had to with no complaints. I would definitely go there before this place again.

Maybe it was because there was no one else there and it was a slow day and the chef didn't come out to play. Idk what I do know is I can't personally recommend this place on my experience. I do have a feeling that if it were a good day business wise for them the food might have been better.

I will never know because I will not...

The food was good, and our waitress handled our table well, but we will not likely visit this restaurant again.

We visited this location on a Thursday evening. When we sat down, there was only one waitress to be seen, juggling about five other tables besides our own. This of course meant service was a bit slow at first until help arrived, but she did a very good job, given the circumstance.

The atmosphere was pleasant; the walls were lined with old photos of New Orleans. The service counter/bar's decor and lighting gave the large room a sort of modern, romantic touch. The music playing was generally cheery and somewhat relaxing, and television in the corner was, thankfully, muted with captions.

The menu had a decent selection; we ordered the Hummus, Meatball Sandwich, and Margherita Pizza. The Hummus portion was very large, served with bread wedges, and surrounded with onions, tomatoes, black olives, and sliced cucumbers. The Meatball Sandwich was served with sliced meatballs on a crispy bread, with a fair amount of mozzarella. The pizza was thin, with a semi-hard dark brown outer crust, and crispy-soft cheese. The toppings consisted of diced tomatoes, and small pieces of fresh basil that were smartly placed UNDER the layer of cheese.

The food was good, but was somewhat lacking in flavor and quality. The hummus was a bit bland; though this may be because it was served chilled, otherwise it may have needed a tad more garlic or tahini. Both the sandwich pizza the were prepared well, and were decent texture-wise, but overall they were just "okay".

To compare this venue experience with other restaurants: Cafe' Roma is better than any fast food pizza restaurant, but not as good as most other similar restaurants in it's...

Me and my 7 girls have visted this restaurant before and loved it. We have spent at least 300 dollars plus tips in this establishment because we loved the food.So that's why we choosw to go back to celebrate mt birthday on last night.Well not so fast.Last night with birthday cake in hand we walk in at 10pm and waited to be seated. First the waitress walks up and ask were me and one of the girls I was with were we there to pick up uber food. I dont know we're he could have gotten that idea seeing we had a cake. So we said no that we need a table for six. Two minutes later the rest of the girls walk in and we are seated. Mind you there was only one other table being served. So the waitress walks up 5 minutes later and says we cant serve y'all because we are only doing take out orders. So I'm likewhy didn't you say that before we sat. I said it's my birthday may I speak with the owner cause it doesn't say that on your website or the print on the door it says your open to 12. Ao he proceeds to get the owner. We can see him speaking with him cause its an open kitchen. The owner shakes his head and waves his hand in the manor of shoeing us off like weren't worth his time. The waitress comes back over and says he said ww can't serve you only take out orders.I said well can we order take out and sit here and eat he says no. Well we left. I begin to cry because it really felt like discrimination. The last time we were there we were in there way past 10 on a Friday and watch people walk in and be served. This owner is a racists and we want ever patrionize him again and you shouldn't either. The other table was of the Caucasian decent and just recieved salads when we walked in so why weren't they told...
