Been going to this place forever and never had a bad experience but more like I was disrespected. Went there Monday to get the red beans which I love with my nephew and friend. My friend asked could she get a side of red beans instead of the entire meal, the waiter explained it wasn’t a side fine. There was a couple behind us and I noticed the lady had a side of red beans😳. I asked a lady who was helping the staff, she explained it was the chef friends and they were special and from out of town etc. Okay it happens but I told her my brother started this program before it was big as it is, and my nephew just graduated last year, he’s the young man on the pamphlet when you walk in the door. Now I’m special because my family is apart of the cafe, and I’ve been coming forever and never asked or expected any special treatment. My waiter who is fabulous and the lady said they would speak to the chef about it. The lady comes out with a cheesy plastic container of red beans no rice! Now what I’m used to and though the chef would do is be EXPERIENCED and PROFESSIONAL enough to come talk to us and just see what our issue was, but she’s a only been there for 6 months so she’s not EXPERIENCED enough! A simple sorry would’ve satisfied us. She walked right past us and talked and laughed to her friends. Now this is when my blood pressure shot up, because to me that meant,” I don’t give a d!!! “, how you’ll feel. I planned on taking eight coworkers next Monday but because the chef is so nonchalant and...
Read moreThe story of this place caught our attention. My family and I traveled from Tennessee and heard good things about the food here. The place was very nice and clean. Also wasn't overly crowded and had a great atmosphere especially seeing all the young people working and learning. With that being said, I expected more from the food. My sons catfish po boy was slimy (not done) in the middle which gave it a bad flavor. My daughters chicken was not cooked to expectations, (No seasoning) and she didn't eat her salad due to the ranch tasting like tartar sauce. My fiance ordered the deviled eggs and didn't like them. The thing that bothered me the most is that there was no seasoning in or on the food at all. Creole or otherwise. I had to add lots of hot sauce to my red beans and rice to finish the bowl. Keeping in mind that there were lots of teaching moments happening, I didn't complain, even seeing some staff drops and mishaps. The best part of the meal was the turkey necks and the cabbage. The New Orleans food standard definitely...
