Unprofessional and unacceptable! In Europe and basically all over the world I like to go to excellent restaurants (Michelin one or two star restaurants) . So over time I have build up some âgastronomic experience â Well this time my experience at Desi Vega was exceptionally unpleasant. I had this knifing negative experience only once before in my life and I am 50 nowâŚ..so let me tell you my gastronomic experience at Desi Vega! At our arrival we were seated immediately after preparing our table. Behind us was a large group ( 20-30 persons) eating. After 10 minutes another group of at least 30 persons joined them although there were no tables available to seat them. The whole space transformed in a very noisy bar with a lot of coming of going of guests. With more alcohol , more noise. I made a first remark to the waitress and she didnât seem to alnowledge my remarks and non-verbally she showed a kind of disinterest. After 15 min a manager came to ask me if all was fine and I repeated my remark and asked him for a quieter table which he refused. Another 10 minutes later another manager (Diego) came ask me the same question????? I told him basically the same and very quickly he wanted to end the conversation by apologising about the situation. Diego walked away and at the same moment he showed to his colleague manager in a non-verbal way ( turning his eyes) his irritation and he clearly thought I was a very annoying guy from Europe make some problems about nothing. So another time I stepped to them and I explained them that his behaviour was unacceptable and unprofessional. Again there were dismissive. So my evening with my daughter was spoiled and this for more then 230$. I refused to tip and even then it seemed they were not understanding my refusal to tip as there were all standing together at the wellcome desk discussing my action . And by the way they have 3 managers for one restaurant???!!!!! I am impressed as they were completely useless. And oh I forgot they gave us a dessert as a gesture because of all the annoyance caused by the big group. Thank you Des Vega!...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I are steak connoisseurs who regularly enjoy fine dining. We were excited about getting a reservation here last Saturday, 1/22. We were seated at a table very close to a server station, and behind us was a bar area, which was also very highly trafficked by the servers. As we tried to settle in, my boyfriend's chair was continuously getting kicked, bumped and pushed by server after server, until finally he asked if his seat was in the way. The server apologized and said they do use that area a lot and perhaps he could move to another seat at the table if it is bothering him. He did eventually decide to move, as it was clear that the servers weren't going to use grace and caution when maneuvering around our table.
We ordered our soups- I got the special and he got the Turtle Soup. Once they came, his was wrong. I noticed and it got corrected... in exchange for the old one being spilled down the back of his chair and jacket- the jacket that he was wearing because we were both too chilly to sit without them on. The server profusely apologized and assured Jon that you "couldn't even tell!" We understand that accidents happen, however this was the last straw for us.
We asked to have the meal to-go, as we felt like at that point, we would've been more comfortable at our hotel than in that establishment. We paid the bill and left, not having had a manger swing by our table a single time. Once we got to the hotel, we discovered my steak to be drastically undercooked, and Jon's to be missing the Oscar topping he ordered. The pricing here definitely does not match the quality of service, the accuracy of the food, or even the atmosphere. It was loud, cold, and crowded. It was not an intimate, comfortable experience whatsoever. We will not be going back, nor would I recommend it to anyone else.
Management doesn't respond to emails or voicemails, as I have expressed all of this via those avenues with no acknowledgement. This place is a money pit that obviously doesn't care about their customers or the details that make fine...
Read moreThe visit began with being asked to step aside as they prepared our table, while seating other patrons who arrived after us. As there is no waiting area this subject us to annoyed looks from wait staff as we tried to make ourselves as unobtrusive as possible, and when we moved into the bar area to wait, patrons seemed annoyed to have us hovering. When we were finally seated we were not given menus, and when they finally came with drink lists we were then abandoned without service for some 10 minutes as we watched every table around us receive service. When the blessing of a server appeared, and we asked for menus, we were subject to a condescending educational statement, âOnce you order drinks you are given a menu,â as though we had never been to a restaurant in our lives. We finally placed our order, and when our bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer arrived we took first bites and the bacon was sickeningly burnt. We asked if the dish could please be remade, and a manager who admitted he never even looked at the dish then came back and gaslit us saying the chef says it was perfectly prepared. Indeed if burnt shrimp is your jam, it was perfect. After witnessing this debacle the other server in the area Adrian asked if our burnt shrimp was being remade, and we advised no, and explained what happened. After so advising, Adrian disappeared to address the kitchen and his colleague emerged with two new shrimp (apparently we had to take it on the chin for the two burnt ones that turned our stomachs). The drama didnt end there, our main courses emerged and beautiful lobster tails were cooked beyond all recognition into strips of leather. Indeed the âbutter poachingâ was rather a vicious butter drowning during which innocent lobster lives were sacrificed in vain because they were inedible. They also had the audacity to charge us full price for this debacle - a grossly overpriced disaster in every respect except Adrian the sole competent person in the establishment got...
