Bon Ton Prime Rib in New Orleans has long been a destination for aficionados of its namesake dish, but to define it by a single cut of meat would be to miss the broader, more exquisite culinary symphony taking place within its walls. So impressed were we by the our first dining experience, that a return visit was mandated just two days later—a true vote of confidence in a restaurant that proved its excellence to be no fluke.
Our experience began with a remarkable Beef Tallow Old Fashioned. This libation was not just a drink but a statement—a bold, savory concoction that was both inventive and flawlessly executed. The beef tallow infusion delivered a profound, bursting richness that played off the classic cocktail's notes of bitters and citrus, creating a complex and memorable aperitif. It was, quite simply, poured to perfection.
This remarkable start was made all the more enjoyable by our server, Bradly, whose attentive and knowledgeable presence set the tone for the entire meal.
For the main event, I veered from the traditional prime rib and was handsomely rewarded with the 12oz Bon Ton Cajun Steak. This choice was a revelation. Cooked to an impeccable medium-rare, the steak was a tender, juicy canvas for a masterful blend of Cajun spices. The flavors were outstanding—a powerful yet balanced melody of heat and earthiness that filled the palate with every bite. The precision of the cooking, a testament to the kitchen's skill, ensured the steak was at its absolute peak.
The supporting cast of sides was equally a hit, proving that no detail is too small at Bon Ton. The puffed corn casserole was a treat in itself; a cloud-like texture gave way to a sweet, delicate flavor that was both comforting and sophisticated.
The Brussels sprouts, a dish that can often be overlooked, were another splendid highlight, prepared with a tender-crispness and a depth of sweet flavor that made them utterly irresistible. Throughout this culinary tour de force, Bradly remained a constant, attentive guide, anticipating our needs and ensuring the seamless flow of the evening.
Our prompt return just two nights later confirmed that this was not a single, fortunate performance, but a consistent commitment to excellence. The combination of culinary skill and the exemplary hospitality provided by Bradly makes this a destination worthy of the highest praise. It is a place where you don't just eat; you experience — and you will undoubtedly find yourself planning your return before the...
Read moreCame in for drinks. Wow and wow!! Drinks were amazing. Hospitality was amazing. The bartenders are extremely skilled. I had an amazing experience. I did not have dinner there as I had already had reservation reservations for another restaurant. However, I was able to indulge in the garlic butter oysters. They were out of this world. I’m happy to see that BON TON Prime rib and back and I look forward to having dinner here this weekend.
UPDATE: Finally back home. However before I left, I had to have the dinner I had been looking forward to having since setting foot in New Orleans. Bon Ton hit the spot in every single category of delicious.
We started off with the barbecue shrimp, they were out of this world. The flavor and tenderness of the shrimp were fantastic. The presentation of the dish was second to none.
Next up we ordered (2) Cajun Ribeyes. The wife I did not want to share hahaha. Both ribeyes cooked to medium, with a beautiful sear and charr of the marbling, accompanied by the Cajun seasoning was completely mouth watering. Ever since bite was full of favorite. This is my first time trying a “Cajun ribeye” let me tell you it will not be my last. So delicious and a great addition to the ribeye steak. For our sides we order the grilled broccoli. It was topped with shredded cheese and baked to perfection. The broccoli were great, very tasty and filling. Next was the cheesy mashed potatoes. The potato consistency was great. Nice and perfect texture. Let me tell you, they are cheesy. They are delicious but be prepared for that liquid gold flavor.
My overall experience at Bon Ton is a 10 out of 10. From the bartenders who are out of this world skilled, the Chef who I had the pleasure of meeting, He great by the way. Not only as a culinary expert but as a person. Servers and Management who each are excellent at what they do and truly make up what Bon Ton is today. I thank each of you for the southern hospitality and I look forward to seeing each of you again soon, next time I’m in...
Read moreMade 8p reservations for two to celebrate our 30th Anniversary while visiting NOLA. Greeted by a maître d giving Mr. Rooney from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, we waited at the bar only a few minutes. Fortunately, the bartender was a conversationalist who prepared our first Sazeracs with speed and skill. Once seated, the wait staff was the perfect balance of attentive and invisible. A crowded Saturday with patrons laughing, celebrating, drinking and dining, the environment is warm and unpretentious. “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” plays, and during the entire experience, the music remained celebratory and fun, laid back and never frenetic. The bisque was poured into a warm bowl at the table and remained warm until it was finished. The onion rings were perfectly cooked, no straggling rings followed your bite from the batter. Rooney lapped the dining room like a proud coach. A bachelorette party sat nearby. I quietly prayed for them while another perfect Sazerac arrived. The mashed potatoes were smoother than I thought possible. We both ordered the Cajun ribeye, which was so tender I could’ve eaten it without teeth. Never one to take photos of my meals, I took a one this time. Not for sharing but for me to commemorate this meal. I was overcome with wonder about how I would come home and possible eat Chipotle and Panera and leftovers, not knowing when I will eat here again. Our table captain never asked how the food was – he didn’t have to – because he knew it was perfect. I stopped pitying myself for the disappointing meals to follow this one and focused on enjoying the moment. The captain surprised us with an anniversary card and chocolate cake. Thank you, Bon Ton Prime Rib, for an unforgettable meal...
