If you’re lookin’ for a place that serves up great food with a side of New Orleans Theatre history, Stanley is where it’s at. Located right off Jackson Square on St Anne Street, this place was named for Stanley Kowalski,. Yeah that Stanley Kowalski. the loud, sweaty, emotionally unstable fella from A Streetcar Named Desire. Their menu is a mix of classic Louisiana flavors and comfort food, which basically means you can come here for all-day breakfast, giant sandwiches, milkshakes, Italian sodas, and all sorts of indulgent goodness. The Fried Oyster Po-Boy is where it’s at—big, crispy, salty P&J Oysters, piled up with cole slaw, spicy cocktail sauce, remoulade, all on a toasted poor boy loaf. It’s the kind of sandwich that makes you wanna slap your own hand for ever eatin’ frozen seafood before. Now, if you like your history served up with a little drama (and let’s be real, you do—you’re in New Orleans), the Desire Line is part of what made this city famous. From 1920 to 1948, this streetcar route ran through the Quarter, from Royal Street down to Desire Street in the Bywater, then looped back to Canal Street. Then Tennessee Williams came along and made it famous with that one line from Blanche DuBois: “They told me to take a streetcar named Desire, transfer to one called Cemeteries and ride six blocks and get off at—Elysian Fields!” New Orleans’ street names are just dramatic like that. So yeah, Blanche was literally riding a metaphor, which is about the most Tennessee Williams thing I’ve ever heard. Much like that old streetcar, Stanley rides the line between history and modern-day indulgence. It’s a place where you can soak in the past while enjoying a plate piled high with something deep-fried and delicious. Whether you’re here for the food, the history, or just a place to shake off a rough night in the Quarter, Stanley’s got you covered.

No parking around this is a walking friendly area Staff super friendly Although this is a brunch and breakfast place they sell alcoholic cocktails that are very nice and yummy Their menu also features women of the classics of cajun food. The drink too a little longer than I hoped but they were pretty good none the less. BAYOU RUM PUNCH- it was pretty good and not too strong but very sweet just like I like. but if you want to have something strong this might not be the best choice SMALL GUMBO- very tasty, hearty, and it has a very yummy taste I cannot describe wow. All I can say is wow. This is definetly amazing. I could say that the bread could have some butter on it but none the less I am glad my first gumbo experience was here. The way the sea food blends with the meat and the rice omg. EGGS BENEDICT POOR BOY- after so many pics about this dish I decided to order, I must say that I am very impressed on the skill that they have making that pouched egg, but that is about it, nothing on this meal has any special flavor or anything memorable, so I can tell you that going for something more typical for the state would be more fulfilling rather than just a sandwich with egg and ham. none the less it was ok. FRIED OYSTER - the fried oyster and sauce were dreamy. I ordered the 7 dollar side to put in poor boy. now. kind of think that to get a sandwich with the oyster in would have been a better idea and a more cost effective. Over all I am pretty impressed and happy with our choice to come here for sure, but you should go through the menu and make smart choices here cause the good dishes are real good, but the not so good dishes are really just very blend and nothing crazy special. this is a place to visit if you have the time and not other reservations I am pretty happy with our meal.

Tourist-friendly restaurant with standard Cajun favorites. It was a 45 min wait but they called us sooner via phone call. We had to wait for next table since you have to be at the restaurant within 5 min of the call, and we were too busy taking pics in Jackson Square. Once seated, the waitress was very friendly and quick to take our orders. For the food, I found most of it to be too salty. My sister and I split an order of the gumbo, which was a bit lacking in the chicken and more heavy on the oysters. I liked that it came with three pieces of white bread to soak up the soup. The fried chicken sandwich wasn’t anything to write home about. The fried seafood platter was pretty big and can easily be shared by two people. It also came with a ton of French fries. There’s a a single person bathroom at the top of the stairs. Plenty of long tables for big groups and unfortunately they didn’t have a balcony to sit upon. Overall it was a touristy spot but is in a convenient location to grab food when you’re by Jackson Square.

My cousin and I got up early to treat ourselves to a good breakfast at a restaurant with mostly great reviews. We arrived at venue this morning after looking online, entered and said good morning to who I'm guessing was the hostess, who showed us to the table without uttering a word or acknowledgement. My cousin and I both ordered the Stanley Classic breakfast we decided on from online, which included potatoes. I truly do not like eggs explained to my waitress that I have Crohns Disease and although I don't like eggs and we could not substitute, could she please make sure the eggs were completely cooked and not wet. When the order came to the table it had some type of grits and not the potatoes listed on the online menu. I asked about it and was told that it was an old menu and they no longer served potatoes. The grits had some flakes which resembled pepper flakes, I asked the waitress about that and she said it was stone grits. Although it definitely did not resemble the stone grits I eat several times a week I did try them. They were sweet and tasted like milk was in them as well. I called the waitress over to ask her if milk and sugar were in them, her response was, I don't know. I asked her to please find out from the kitchen.

When she left I tried the bacon and it as well as the eggs were ice cold. When the waitress returned she said that is the way the grits are and showed no interest in the fact that we then asked for a manager and that although the grits were hot nothing else was. Another young lady came to the table and informed us that the manager was on the phone with the owner, however she did show more concern for us as customers and what our concerns were. The two classic orders were taken off our tab and we paid for coffee, tea and a side of shrimp, which by the way were excellent. We paid our tab and left a tip although our waitress was nonchalant and unconcerned, the young lady that came to the...
