🌶️ Spicy Mango – A Must-Try Flavor Haven in the French Quarter

When the staff at the Hampton Inn in the French Quarter enthusiastically recommended Spicy Mango, I knew I was in for something good—but the experience far exceeded expectations. This vibrant spot captures the essence of bold Caribbean-inspired cuisine with an upscale twist, offering dishes that explode with flavor, creativity, and charm.

🥖 Joshi Bread Start with the Joshi Bread. Warm, fresh, and kissed with subtle spices, it's the kind of bread that makes you rethink your relationship with carbs. Perfect on its own or as a scoop for the saucier dishes.

🍤 Coconut Shrimp with Orange Chili Lime Sauce This appetizer is an absolute knockout. The crispy coconut crust brings a satisfying crunch, and the bright, citrusy chili lime sauce ties it all together with just the right amount of kick and sweetness. It’s tropical magic in every bite.

🔥 Flaming Brazino A true centerpiece dish. The presentation alone makes jaws drop, but the flavor—smoky, delicate, and laced with tangy citrus notes—is what truly impresses. A perfect harmony of heat and finesse.

🍛 Red Bean Oxtail Rich, slow-cooked perfection. The oxtail is fall-off-the-bone tender, swimming in a luscious, seasoned red bean stew that feels like a warm hug from someone’s Caribbean grandma. Comfort food, elevated.

🍗 Half Jerk Chicken Expect juicy, fiery, and bold. The jerk spices deliver a slow-building heat, balanced beautifully by the smoky grill and hint of sweetness. If you like layered spice, this dish won’t disappoint.

🧀 Jerk Mac and Cheese Creamy meets spicy in the most delightful way. The velvety cheese sauce is infused with jerk seasoning, giving this comfort classic a bold twist that you'll want to write home about. Or just order twice.

💡 Final Thoughts If you’re wandering the French Quarter and asking yourself where to eat, trust the local insight and head to Spicy Mango. The menu reads like a love letter to Caribbean flavor, and every dish delivers something memorable. Whether you're a curious foodie or a seasoned spice-lover, this place deserves a top spot on your...

I was excited to try Spicy Mango and celebrate my birthday in New Orleans. But this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in my adult life. The food was pretty good but the service was abysmal. We had to wait and ask to be serviced. We were seated for about 10-15minutes with no water no communication. WE had to reach out to the hostess to get our waiter to come and start and greet us. Our waiter got our drink orders and disappeared. We didn’t receive our drinks until 15-20 min later. Our waiter kept leaving every time we had a question about something to “check on it” but would never come back, and would go assist another large party they had before we got seated. Other waiter were walking around while we could not get serviced at all! After our appetizer order, 2 out of the 4 people that were in our party started giving out their entree order. They again asked a question that our waiter didn’t know and AGAIN, the waiter left our table to check and never came back. Mind you, our appetizer dishes were not even removed yet. So we’re just there with dirty dishes and no order. The manager came by asking if everything was okay, and we told him that we’ve been waiting for drinks, water, and for the sister to verify a question. He said we would look into it. Time again went by with no service. Myself and my partner never got our entree order at all. After complaining, only the 2 out of 4 got their dish. They finished their food before we even got our entree. Contributing to a horrible dining experience. The manager came by again and put the drinks on the house. We were willing to forgive and still have a good dining experience as he was apologetic. But then we kept having to ask for water, for items we mentioned earlier that were forgotten, and had to hear really bad excuses from our waiter. Food was good but that was overshadowed by the low quality of service we...

Omg! Jamal! Jamal! I thought he was our server, the way he made us feel welcome & at home. The minute we were sat down I asked what you prefer on the menu? me an my date are not from here, there was a rush going on, When we came in, the weather was changing, Jamal kept a smile. Before he seated us. Us walking in we didn’t know what was going. On but he was being pulled here, there, a little bit everywhere, due to people coming ask him things and check on this, we waited but seeing what he was going through we did not apply more pressure on him, we actually thought he was with management, he tried his best, even some Guess gave him side eyes and saying slick things, to hurt him. Knowing he’s doing his Job. We applaud him for just doing what it takes to please everyone, me and my date can say! But just know he’s an awesome worker. Without him, or the attitude he has I would have left, an gave a very bad review. You Never Know Who A Person Is Or What They Do, I Can Be An Undercover Boss Just To Test this Place Out To Recruit, Or Award Someone On Their Skills To Deal With A Rush At Last Minute! In the midst of what was going on Jamal! Still checked on us Made Sure We Were Okay! But overall This is a place to come to the Atmosphere, the Vibes, The Music, The Food, Just To Be Welcomed Is Amazing, I Will Be Back. To see Improvement. I Give Applause To Jamal If There’s Anyway I Can Thank Him Thank You Jamal. You Are Not Unseen, Keep Doing An Being The Person You Are. You...

I'd heard a lot of mixed reviews about Spicy Mango, but I felt like I needed to try it for myself. Overall, I'd give it a solid 8/10. Aesthetically, the restaurant is beautiful...great vibe, perfect for a night out. The staff was super helpful and friendly, which added to the experience. Food? 9/10. I tried the branzino, jerk mac & cheese, elote, and cabbage. Everything was flavorful and well-seasoned. I would love to see slightly larger portions for the price, but taste-wise, they definitely delivered. The drinks were also 9/10—super cute, strong, and delicious. Pricey, but you'll sip pretty. Now... let's talk about the music. Omggg the volume was out of control. We were literally screaming across the table and kept having to ask our waitress to repeat herself. We noticed it got even louder while we were there, and I ended up asking to speak to the manager. He came over a little spicy (very on-brand lol) and let us know the volume was part of the owner's "vision." No real apology or acknowledgment of how disruptive it was. I've seen this mentioned in other reviews too, so hopefully the owner takes it into consideration. All that said, I'd still return. The food, drinks, and vibe were worth it. Just... bring earplugs and patience for the playlist.
