Louisiana Pizza Kitchen ainât your typical pizza joint, and thatâs clear from the jump. Tucked into the French Quarter near the French Market, itâs the kind of place that takes its pizza seriouslyânot in some fussy, Instagrammable way, but in that old-world, wood-fired, thin-crust, respect-your-ingredients kinda way.
You wonât find any conveyor-belt, mass-produced, sauce-drenched slabs here. No sir, this is pizza for folks who know better. And while theyâve got all the classics, the real starâthe one that makes locals smirk knowingly while tourists fumble with their mapsâis the Muffuletta Pizza.
Now, thereâs something downright poetic about slapping a New Orleans institution onto an old-school pizza crust. The muffuletta has been holding this city together for over a centuryâborn in an Italian grocery store, fed to dock workers, and carried forth by anyone who understands the simple genius of cured meat, cheese, and olive salad. But LPK had the audacity, the vision, the sheer Louisiana gumption to say, âHell, why not put it on a pizza?â
And it works. Lord, does it work.
The crust is cracker-thin, baked in a wood-fired oven until itâs just kissed by a little char. No thick, doughy nonsense hereâthis is the kind of base that lets the toppings do the talking. And what a conversation they have. Italian salami and prosciutto, bringing all that rich, salty, melt-in-your-mouth decadence. Provolone cheese, because whatâs a muffuletta without that creamy, slightly sharp bite? The mozzarella is some of the best Iâve ever had and Iâm talking New York Chicago good. There is buffalo milk mixed in that gives it that perfect pull of perfections. But the real kicker, the thing that ties it all together, is that olive salad tapenadeâbriny, garlicky, herby perfection that seeps into every bite, the way rainwater finds the cracks in the sidewalk.
You take a bite, and for a second, you ainât in a pizza joint anymore. Youâre in an old Italian market, surrounded by barrels of olives and the scent of fresh bread, knowing full well that life doesnât get much better than this.
And the best part? This ainât some overpriced, tourist-trap abomination. The good folks at LPK keep it realâlocal ingredients, fair prices, and a respect for tradition thatâs rare in a town where change comes fast and hard.
Louisiana Pizza Kitchen is the kind of place where the pizza tastes like it was made by someone who gives a damn. And that, my friends, is worth more than all the neon lights and daiquiri stands...
Read moreNot family friendly, took the kids the female GM asked us leave because our kids 2 & 3. The GM was obviously upset with us without a warning & was irritated with us. We had the children in our lap because they never offered us children seats & she said that was irrelevant. Which im sure did not help them feel comfortable as they do not eat in our lap. We've been to numerous restaurants and assumed they didn't have any since it was not offered to us(yes its happened before, some do not have high chairs or broken). While waiting for the check, she asked us again to leave. I told her I'm waiting on the check so we can leave & she replies "you can wait outside with the children". I choose to stay my table until the check came and we still tipped the server. Something we probably shouldn't have done but we took the high road and tipped on top of the 18% gratuity that was already added. I can't help but wonder if she would have approached us in a rude manner if the owner was around!? From past reviews on here, seems like this isn't out of the ordinary for customers with children dinning at this establishment. Even customers without children have complained about the staff being rude, so this seems routine for them. This isn't a five star restaurant with extremely salty pizza. Fat Boys Pizza in the FQ would probably treat you better & has better pizza. If it wasn't for the location & several tourists around because of the French Market, this place...
Read moreFor approximately 30yrs I have visited this amazing Pizzeria and every visit the food, service and atmosphere have been amazing and also, I have been served by phenomenal servers each visit (I want to thank Vivian who is the newest server to spoil me with amazing service, she is so delightful and her welcoming smile makes the pizza taste even better!! And also have been served by Victor who was equally amazing and we are appreciative of them both (side note, they both rave about the croutons too :)). It is always nice to see the owner present also each visit. Now, that I have returned home to the French Quarter after a long stay in Sicily, which the pizza is amazing and let me add the Louisiana Pizza Kitchen is on par in its quality, taste and presentation I enjoyed in the wood fire Pizzerias in Sicily. The Cesar salad is also extremely well done and the croutons are the best I have ever had in the world, and they add a new level to an already amazing salad. Before I leave in 6mos I will visit as often as possible and do recommend if you love pizza, Cesar salads and phenomenal staff ~ and finally a thank you to all the chefs and support staff I have not had the pleasure to meet, thank you for making...
