Thousands of better options for the price and what you don't get... Space, breakfast, microwave, TV and coffee pots that work, etc. Rooms are tiny!! and extremely overpriced. No microwave, on property or in rooms. TV didn't work. Coffee maker didn't work. All amenities should be evaluated before reserved. We were street side and the noise was loud all but 3 hours in the middle of the night. I watched a woman vomit at the bottom of the stairs on Friday night and walked by it, unchanged Saturday, Sunday and Monday. 3 different people were let into the brides room, by hotel staff, without contacting the bride. 3 different people at different times. Is safety and resident privacy not a thing?? WTH? Too make it worse, after THEY let others into other residents rooms, they locked the bride out. She paid for her room, safety and privacy. Not her aparently. Parking at $50/nt for hotel guests...foul!! No way can I recommend this place to anyone, for a stay, wedding or banquet facilities and I'll never stay there again. As for any thought of having a wedding here... Don't do it. Over priced, tiny rooms, no room for wedding parties to gather or prep. Honeymoon suite was not included in the venue rental price and extra $250...wth? We were already staying there, paid wedding venus fees yet no space for wedding party hair/ make up or all men to get dressed. We paid for the banquet room , bar and meals and after 10 drinks ( trying to get what we paid for)... Not even a buzz, AFTER we paid for open bar. WTH?? Ice House and Open bar guy that came with the purchase are brothers and stingy with it. This place should not advertise as a 'wedding venue'!! DURING, yes, during! the wedding, renters were not asked to take a different route so they walked right through the wedding party to get to their rooms. All 'upgrades' to include alcohol were robbery! Consider yourself warned. Just don't do this for your special day or...
Read moreNice stay overall. Valet parking. Our room was not within the main hotel building but alongside the parking lot behind the main building. Hence, the 4 stars for location. We did have an exterior privacy wall to block the lot, and a charming motel-type space. No views, obviously. In the main building, the front desk folks were friendly and the bar was cozy but sophisticated. We only stayed two nights, and our days were packed with activities, so we didn't spend much time on the property but would've liked to have more time to enjoy the atmosphere there. We would stay again and ask for a room in the maim building next time, for sure. The only downsides: billing was a bit confusing with all the various fees added in, and I did have to call them for clarification once I got home, but they were helpful in explaining the statement. Also, while booking I had asked for a birthday acknowledgement upon arrival or later that evening, for my son who turned 21 the day we checked in, because they have a place on the reservation form for that type of request. But that didn't happen in any way, shape or form. Not a deal breaker but would've been nice. (I know I know, it's not Disney World.) Great location for walking to SO many awesome places around the French Quarter. It's easier not to have a car there, but we were west of NOLA for a few days prior and had to drive ourselves in on the tail-end of a business trip. Traveled without the hubby and I think the friendliness and helpfulness of their staff eased my worries as a solo parent traveler with a young-adult son in tow. We were there in July and, surprisingly, had fairly nice weather without a major heat wave, but also it was a "quiet" experience in the French Quarter that time of year at that location, with still tons of...
Read moreWe slept in a single room with a queen size bed on the second floor. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean if worn down. The staff was courteous, and the location was close enough to locations such as Jackson Square and the streetcars that we were able to get to enough places by walking and taking said streetcars to appropriately fill a weekend. The main problem, which was bad enough to drop this to a 2-star review, was the noise.
The door to the room did not close tight, resulting in a lot of noise coming in from the courtyard. I suspect that even had the door closed, the noise would have still been an issue. Any time there was anyone in the courtyard talking, it was transmitted loudly enough to keep us awake, and the small bubbling fountain in the courtyard was always clearly audible. People rolling suitcases on the pavement outside and employees rolling carts around echoed noisily as well. It seemed that there were always people up later than us and people awake earlier than we wanted to be, so that meant that our quality sleep time was frequently cut to 4 hours or less per night. We tried to sleep for longer than that, but we never awakened feeling particularly rested. This led to us frequently yawning or just feeling run down faster than we would have otherwise. It was also very distracting when we would have preferred to feel as though we were in a more private environment.
In summary, I'm glad that we stayed there so that I could get the experience of staying in the French Quarter once at a clean hotel, but we will not be going back. On future trips to New Orleans, we will find accommodations that will better facilitate restful sleep that will enable us to better enjoy the activities we want to do during...
