The kayaking portion of this experience was great, and very beautiful. However, the guide and transportation was extremely disappointing. Our guide waited over 30 minutes for someone who was late. This set our entire day back right from the start. I'm a firm believer in not punishing those who are on time. In addition, at the end of the tour the customers were expected to load up all kayaks and equipment on the trailer. For the price of these tickets, I didn't expect to have to do manual labor. Some people might not be physically able to lift these boats, so that is something to be aware of ahead of time. Finally, the guide stopped for gas on the return trip which added another 30 minutes to our day. I felt this was really inefficient and inconsiderate of everyone's time. I think the website description needs a bit of reworking to ensure that customers get an accurate picture of...
Read moreThis was so much fun. My 14 year old and I went on this kayaking tour of a bayou just outside of New Orleans and it really rounded out our trip, adding an active, ecological, and outsidey aspect to a trip otherwise focused on Mardi Gras and meals. I stopped counting alligators after a while — we saw so many — and loved the quiet, the cypress trees (and knees), the birds, plus learning about local history through the lens of a bayou. Kaylee was a young and cheery and competent guide. I have some kayaking experience but this would be a manageable activity for someone who had never done it before. The boats are very heavy (are simply not gonna flip) and the water is perfect calm. It was unseasonably warm in February. Definitely wear sunscreen and a hat, and bring plenty of...
Read moreThe kayak tour and our guide, AJ, were great. Really enjoyable way to see parts of New Orleans outside of the city. AJ was incredibly knowledgeable, dynamic, and funny he really made the journey! We got to see alligators, bald eagles, owls, jumping fish, osprey, and so much more. It was really valuable to hear about the history of the swamps and learn about the things people have done to destroy this natural barrier and the efforts they are making to build it back up. AJ picked us up in the French quarter and dropped us off back at our hotel, making the trip out to the swamp simple and convenient. We would HIGHLY recommend AJ as a guide and the...
