I used to love this place. The quality of the food has gone WAY DOWN as well as the portion sizes. I placed the following order Togo...I ordered seafood fried rice and got 3 shrimp and a few pieces of broccoli. No florets of broccoli to be found. There were tough stalks. You know, the kind that is at the base of the broccoli that you usually throw away. There was no crab! None! The size did not amount to the price tag on the dish of $17.95. It was extremely insulting. Next, I ordered a bowl of Tom Yum soup. It was $8+. I got a cup portion. When I questioned the amount of the soup, they said in a short tone, that was what size a large is. The size is clearly a small. I had already paid my tip before receiving my food. I truly thought the young lady taking my order was the person bagging the food. That was not the case. The Pad Thai was dry and had 3 shrimp in it as well. We own 6 restaurants, therefore, I tip on Togo orders. I tipped $8 on a $40 meal. That was a HUGE mistake. I asked for various sauces that I normally get at Thai restaurants. I got the disappointing sigh like I was troubling the staff. I finally got a dab of peanut sauce. You would have thought that I asked for a pint of blood. The manager was sitting at the bar working on the schedule and could care the less to look up and speak to a customer. He did look up abruptly to defend the size of the soup. No... "Thank you for your business." Maybe I looked to low rent for them. Funny thing is when we are in New Orleans, we stay around the corner at a hotel. We always buy lunch and/or dinner for the staff working the front desk. I can honestly say that I won't waste my money with this group of people that think that their food is the best and their portion sizes are fair. Not to mention their snotty dispositions. I have been in the restaurant business for 28 years and have worked chain restaurants to begin with all the way up to fine dining over the last 20 years. I can honestly say that this restaurant needs to step up it's game as how they talk to and treat their guests. You never know who is coming in the door and what kind of tip people leave even on Togo orders nor the amount of money they will spend. Be fair! Be nice! Act like a server... not an order taker. Care a little. I promise... it matters! And I assure you Mr. Manager, you are not to good to look up and speak to the customer. Customers are just like employees, when you treat them good they are willing to come back. Bad attitudes should be left at the door. You are never to good to say "Thank you for your business!" If you set a good example, your employees will usually follow suit.
Now... blast away about grammar errors to make up for your poor service, food, and dispositions. That's what people do when they are called out. I probably should have waited to write this when I wasn't so upset. However, I feel like the owner/owners need to know how their restaurant is being run. I sure want to know when our staff and...
Read moreOver twenty years ago, my husband and I stumbled upon this excellent family owned Thai restaurant in New Orleans, and we have been coming here ever since. Service is professional, warm, and attentive. Our lovely waitress knows the menu well and is great at helping guests navigate spice levels and recommendations. Itâs clear the team takes pride in both the food and the guest experience. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Supreeya, and the Chef. Supreeya generously offered us a taste of one of her favorite appetizers, a traditional Thai sausage with onions, cabbage, cucumber, and pork rinds in dipping sauce. It was delicious!
When visiting New Orleans, this Thai restaurant is a MUST!!!
The menu is expansive and impressively authentic. A few standouts from our most recent visits:
Panko Softshell Crab
Softshell crab deep-fried in Asian bread crumbs, with/ spring greens, spicy garlic aioli, and mango tomato chutney.
Crispy Tofu ( Vegan)
Fried tofu strips served with plum dipping sauce and ground peanuts.
Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao)
Bangkok-style spicy street food. Wide rice noodles with/ fresh chilies, galangal, garlic, peppercorn & basil, stir-fried in light soy sauce with/ red bell, green beans, onion, carrot, cabbage, and tender beef meat. Packed with heat and flavorâask for âmediumâ unless youâre ready for serious spice.
Panang Curry Beef
A mildly spicy aromatic Panang curry with your protein of choice, zucchini, green beans, bell pepper, and sweet basil, topped with fresh coconut milk and garnished with lime leaves. It's rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced with just the right level of coconut sweetness and herbal depth.
And for beverages we opted for...
Read moreGreat food HALF the time. Overpriced ALL the time. I have never been to a more inconsistent place to eat in my life. Sometimes I order food and it is absolutely fantastic and the other half of the time I order food it's a total let down. This place is not cheap and I do not mind paying for quality food. If the food was great every time I would still pay the extra cash but I am DONE ordering food from these people. I order the same thing every time and depending on who is working in the kitchen that day will determine the outcome of the meal. When they ask what my spice level preference is I will always say level 3. Sometimes it's perfect, other times it's too spicey or not spicey at all. This unpredictable spice level is one thing I cannot tolerate. Why even ask what spice level i want if the chef is going to do his own thing. The most important thing about a restaurant is that no matter when you go, any day, any time, the food should be consistent. You should not be able to tell the difference between the AM shift and the PM shift or what have you. I have only ever worked in the service industry. I am fully aware of how important it is to have a consistent kitchen and Sukho Thai, surprisingly, does not seem to have this figured out which is tremendously disappointing to me for how expensive this joint is. I really did not want to have to write this review but I am incredibly irritated at the amount of money that I have spent in here and feel very ripped off. In the words of Chef Gordon Ramsay: Get it together...
