Ok first let me say the Willie’s on Bourbon street was Amazing that’s where I went the 1st time I ever went to New Orleans and fell in love with Willie’s chicken, but this time I visited the Willie’s on Frenchmen the chicken was just ok I ordered fish and it tasted unclean, greasy and just had a bad taste overall (oh let me say this I was born and raised in the backwoods of Mississippi I grew up eating catfish, perch, pan trout and crawfish right out the rivers, creeks and ponds my whole life) that fish was god awful tasting so I returned the fish to the counter and I got a refund for $18.94 it never showed up on my credit card I have watched for this return and never got it which is fine keep it I won’t be returning to this particular Willie’s I guess since i was from Detroit they thought I was some dumb northerner but nah I only live north born deep in the woods of Mississippi oh they ate the fish I returned to the counter sweared nothing was wrong with the fish but if me and my two friends all spit that fish out it definitely was something wrong with it again all 3 of us were born and grew up in Mississippi we know good fish this Willie’s was shocking to me usually the food be really good🤷♀️ my honest review I will be returning to New Orleans for Mardi Gras hopefully my next visit is better this was the only not great food I...
Read moreWhile walking around on Frenchmen st, stumbled upon this place and knew I had to try the fried chicken. Ended up getting a 4 piece chicken with French fries, a corn biscuit, and jambalaya rice. I usually like to eat my chicken with some sauce, so I saw they had some honey mustard and got a few small containers. Upon first try, this honey mustard sauce was awesome! It had the right amount of sweetness and was peppery, which I love in my honey mustard. It made for the perfect dipping sauce when eating the chicken, which was super good! The corn biscuit was as well, and I couldn't believe that everything in my box was slamming! I thoroughly enjoyed my food, and yes, there wasn't a crumb left! The jambalaya rice wasn't bad, but I've had better. The decor in this place is unique to the area, and it really gave off a New Orleans jazz vibe. On top of that, there was some great love music playing outside, so between the ambiance and decor, it set the tone for my meal! I'd highly recommend this place for a late night fried snack and...
Read moreAfter leaving a jazz club on Frenchmen Street, my boyfriend asked me what I wanted to eat. It was late, I was a little buzzed, and all I could think about was chicken tendies. He was in the middle of telling me how we likely weren't going to find chicken tendies at that hour, when we walked by Willie's Chicken Shack — and, as it says in the Bible, "it was so." We both ordered 3 piece meals... tendies, fries, and cornbread... and neither of us could resist the wall of daiquiris. The guy who took our order offered us samples, and even recommended mixing flavors. So, we settled on piña colada X mango, and neither of us was mad about it! Important detail: these slushies are largely Bacardi 151, so if you're not careful, you will turn into a slushy as well. Inside was a fun vibe, booths were a little sticky, but it felt appropriate. We also were treated to a flash-mob style brass band outside, which honestly made the experience even...
