Taverna Naxos — Restaurant in New Trier Township

Walker Bro's was closed so on a whim, I changed the cuisine to Greek and was recommended Taverna Naxos; a hop, skip and a jump away. Walked in blind to any expectations and immediately was stunned by the ambiance, esthetics and cleanliness of the restaurant! I was the only patron and confused if they were even open. Michael, assured me that they were and gave me carte blanche on seating. The chef personally handed me a plate of bread and hummus and the flavor profile knocked my world off balance! When the Tzatziki & Kedfeh (Greek meatballs) arrived, my world stopped spinning in orbit. Each ingredient tasted as if it was hand selected earlier in the day!

The bathrooms were immaculate. The menu & specials looked as if they had just been taken out for their maiden voyage! This has got to be a date night hot spot, if it's not, do it!

We visited this place yesterday for the first time. Made reservations and listed dining room as my preferred option after carefully reading reviews and seeing pictures online. We were celebrating a birthday and were excited to visit Taverna Naxos. When we showed up, the dining room looked lively with a great atmosphere but we were taken to the second floor as the only party (4ppl), dead place, no staff, no other guests, for 1.5 hours we were the only party in the second floor, while food was good, the atmosphere was a complete opposite. The food was decent but arrived cold. The service suffered due to one overwhelmed waiter handling the entire second floor, including our large party. The biggest issue was confusion over payment—some guests could split checks while others couldn’t, with no clear policy explained. I asked the waiter for the check, and after waiting 40 minutes, I asked if I could just pay for the food that I ordered. The manager rudely told us that she couldn’t accommodate that request, so I asked for the full check, which still wasn’t ready.
