Wow I cannot say enough good things about this spot and its owner, Austin. Ironically enough, my wife and I did stumble upon this spot accidentally after some dinner before heading out for dancing and I'm so happy that we did. I personally love craft cocktail/spirit-focused bars and Accidental Bar is THE spot to learn everything you'd ever want to know about sake.
Austin is a rare find of someone who is not only incredibly knowledgeable about spirits but is able to explain sake in way that isn't condescending. He was able to recommend multiple interesting sakes based on our spirits preferences and I had no idea sake was such an expansive spirit. I could go on but all I can really say here is go and meet Austin. He's wonderful.
We unfortunately didn't try any of the food because we had just come from dinner but everything we saw on the menu looked fantastic. We'll absolutely be coming back to try the...
Read moreThis place is everything you want in a local neighborhood drinks spot and more. I came in - accidentally of course - the first time expecting a cocktail and a few bar bites. I was not a sake person then but I certainly am now.
The food is superb. It's all prepared in a tiny kitchen behind the bar and I would describe it as almost Japanese-inspired tapas/small bites. The scallop crudo is excellent. The crab is divine. Even the selection of pickled vegetables and cheeses have blown me away. They chef is operating on another level for a sake bar.
The service is amazing. Austin - the owner - is a funny and knowledgable sake guide who wants you to enjoy and have fun. Expect copious free samples and belly laughs.
The atmosphere is intimate and cool, with fun quotes and knicknacks lining the walls in a small but not too small Alphabet City environment.
I'd go here more often if I...
Read moreThis is a wonderful sake bar. It was my first time at a sake bar and I had such a great experience. The bartender was amazing, she was wonderful in letting my friends and I try some of the sake before we commit to one. She was also very knowledgeable on the different sake and was able to recommend us some that would be to our liking. I ended up choosing the Niwa No Uguisu - Doburoku, which is like a pear smoothie drink. It was very nice and subtle. I also loved the fun atmosphere and it’s a great place to meet up with friends for some drinks. I would recommend this place to those looking for a different kind of bar scene and those interested in sake. I absolutely loved the experience as there’s no sale bar...
