I went to Avellino's because of their online ratings. Don't know who is eating there and submitting feedback on the food or what exactly it is that they are rating but it was far from good. Infact, it was so bad to me that I will not ever go there again. Had the Chicken Parm with salad and bread that I asked for, if they had said they did not include any I would have bought some garlic bread to go with my meal but they said they would be including bread. They did, a third of a loaf and it was sort of stale. Chicken Parm tasted right out of a fridge, just nuked in a microwave, not fresh, the salad was prepacked, probably had been in the fridge for a day or 2, they didn't include a side of dressing either. Maybe its a covid thing, maybe they are cutting corners to stay afloat. If it is, I am sorry but you know what they say about first...
Read moreMany years ago, when I was a kid growing up in Rego Park, Avellino was our local pizza place, and my mom would send me over their every other week or so to carry home a large pie for dinner. I haven't been there in about 30 years because I've lived in Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia. I'm back in town and met two friends for dinner last night. One suggested Avellino, and I must say, it was wonderful returning to a beloved restaurant.
The food is still great and very reasonably priced. I had the gnocchi with pesto and bolognese sauce. Excellent, and I'm more than old enough to have a beer with dinner now as well. My friends enjoyed their entrees too.
The staff there was very friendly and took wonderful care of us. It was an unexpected pleasure to discover, in these uncertain times, that a gem from my past still sparkles as...
Read moreDon’t waste your money eating here. This is the first restaurant I’ve been to in my whole entire life that has a policy on seating. If you’re not going to buy a whole pie then they’ll ask you to sit on the smallest most congested tables and chairs and the comfortable chair and tables are reserved for those that wanna pay more. Terrible staff!! A short Hispanic guy that takes orders and also works the bar and the skinny white dude with white hair that usually wears a cap at the cash register are both extremely rude and sick of their job and therefore don’t do it properly. I asked him to give me some crushed pepper on the side with my slices of pizza and he was acting as if I’ve asked him for his life. So, in my opinion it’s not worth walking into a place like that and ruining the rest of your day talking to the...
