I would give them 1 star but giving them 2 stars because the food was good except for one. Took a few of my friends out here for their bday. One of the birthday friend ordered a soup(will explain this in later detail below) and we ordered a salad, plov, burgers and fries. Food was good except the soup, the soup was not fresh and we called over the Owner by the name of ABO, he came over and we explained that the soup was out of whack and we expected them to cancel it or change to a different variety, the owner point blank range said this and I will quote their words "We already made the soup and spend the money of the produce in it, that is how we make it, we cannot cancel it but we can replace it for the same one or another one but you will still be charged for the first one and you will be charged for the new one too". When we heard that we were shocked! Not once ever did we have any issues at any other restaurant where the owner doesn't admit their fault and said they will still charge us for the soup double or whatnot. So then the waitress came, we explained it to her and we said to call the owner ABO back, she left and came back within a few minutes saying he apparently left for the night, which is total BS if you ask me because he was there a few minutes prior. We accepted that and paid for the expired soup they gave us. Other than that the rest of the food was good, but never order their soups especially the SHURPA. Now let's get to the singer, saxophonist guy there. We asked him if he can play some nice music, he did and we did appreciate that but before he was able to play any music, he was trying to setup the mic and stuff, and it made a VERY LOUD MUSIC which affected OUR EARS. IT was very very LOUD, clearly he is inexperienced and really messed up big time as all of us heard this LONG out of sync noise that the mic makes through the loud speakers and mind you they literally sat us right next to the speakers when the whole restaurant was empty they gave us the worst seats in the spot. As a gentleman and decent human being I am, out of appreciation for the musicians effort for trying to sing and be accommodating after the whole ears gone death issue, I decided to tip him although it was not needed. I gave him cash tip and instead of saying thank you, he threw the money back at my face and said that he doesn't work in the train station where I can give him that much tip, mind you I gave him whatever cash I had in my wallet and it was not a bad tip. Regardless I was nice and said I understand and insisted he takes the money, he does take it afterwards. This place is most nasty and horrible service I've ever gotten and my friends agreed as well. Here is a tip to you Art of Grill, your food may be decent/good, But goal to keep a business running is to make your customers happy and not attack back and listen and try to be accommodating. Never ever will either my friends or I will come back here again, I don't recommend it either to you guys reading this review, there any other great kosher spots out there, this was not worth it. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to dine at Art of Grill, a Bukharian restaurant that offers an authentic culinary experience. Before delving into my review, I must acknowledge that cultural differences may influence one's perception of this establishment, as it adheres to Bukharin cultural norms. Keep in mind that my review might not reflect how others perceive the restaurant.
Let's start with the food, which I found to be absolutely fantastic. The dishes were incredibly authentic, delicious, and prepared with fresh ingredients. From the first bite to the last, I was impressed by the quality and flavors of the cuisine. I would rate the food a perfect 10 out of 10.
However, there was one aspect of my dining experience that bothered me, as well as many other patrons—the choice to hire a DJ. Unfortunately, the music played by the DJ far exceeded an acceptable noise level for a restaurant. Numerous patrons requested the DJ to lower the volume, but he would argue with them, claiming that the music wasn't too loud. This constant back-and-forth made it difficult to relax and enjoy the meal. The music was painfully loud, to the point of hurting our eardrums. I personally approached the DJ and politely asked him to turn it down, but his response was far from satisfactory. He asked me how much he would be paid to do so, which is not the kind of reply one expects from a professional in a restaurant setting. Throughout the evening, the patrons had to lower the volume themselves around 15 times while the DJ was absent, only to have it raised back to an unbearable level upon his return.
Another incident that troubled me was the presence of hookah smoke inside the restaurant, especially with children around. Although I'm not intimately familiar with New York City laws, I'm almost certain that smoking hookah indoors is prohibited in restaurants. However, Art of Grill allowed it, which was both surprising and disappointing.
For these reasons, I regretfully have to give Art of Grill a poor score. Despite the excellent food, the overall dining experience was marred by the constant battle with the DJ over the music volume and the disregard for the rules concerning hookah smoke. It was a challenging task to truly enjoy ourselves at the restaurant. I hope that the management takes these concerns into account and addresses them to ensure a more pleasant atmosphere for...
Read moreNever again! What a rip off. The only good thing that came out of there was the service. The ambience is tacky the music is horrible and accompanied by someone who decided to turn it into karaoke night (I'm not sure if he's the owner or not) Whenever we suggest the music he asked us to pay for the songs despite the fact that it was only two parties in the entire restaurant ours and someone else that I knew from my neighborhood. We witnessed the fight right in front of the restaurant with two patrons that were previously dining in the restaurant. Ultimately our party was charged enough to pay for renting out an entire restaurant. We were overcharged we knew it they knew it and they didn't care they slapped on fees that I've never seen at a restaurant and there's nothing we could say or do about it. It went from being about approximately $90 a person it's $160 a person and since it was couples only I can guarantee you I didn't get $320 worth of food and that money would have definitely would have been better spent in a real bougie restaurant. And just so you don't think it's an isolated event I talked to my friend who is sitting at the other table the following day and he told me he got ripped off left and right. From halachic standpoint they serve fish and meat on the same table. My best advice to choose a better restaurant this place is just not worth the headache. Like I said...
