My friend and I checked out Barachou for dessert since we were in the area. The shop is very small, and if they decide to expand, I hope they decide to offer more seating options. Right now, there's only room for one party to sit down, so you either need to bank on the fact that you're going at an off-time, or know you're grabbing and going. The displays are cute and cozy, and the presentation of the tarts, puffs, and pastries are beautiful.
I was pleasantly surprised by these puffs, as I thought they would just be instagrammable and offer nothing else. We got the special of three puffs for $10. The puffs are tiny and bite-sized, which is the only reason I think they are overpriced. We got the passionfruit puffs and split the lemon meringue. If you like passionfruit, I highly recommend the passionfruit puff. The tangy flavor really came through and balanced nicely with the pastry, even with a generous amount of filling. I would have liked a stronger lemon flavor for the lemon meringue, but it may have been influenced by the power of passionfruit.
These puffs would make a great gift for someone special who likes pastries, or a treat for yourself if you're treating yourself. I'm just a glutton who isn't a big fan on spending on something that is so tiny, but I cannot deny that it was a...
Read moreI don't usually write reviews, but I have to give a shoutout to Barachou because I'm completely obsessed. I've always loved tiramisu, hands down my favorite dessert so when I found out they make a version called Tiramichou, I knew I had to try it. Honestly, it might be one of the best things I've tasted since I left Europe.
It has everything I love about tiramisu: the creamy layers, the rich mascarpone, the perfect coffee flavor but the twist is the choux puffs soaked in espresso. That's what makes it original and unforgettable.
The rest of the menu is just as good. Their signature cream puffs come in all kinds of flavors, and everything is so fresh and beautiful it's hard to choose. A box of three is always a great little treat on the go. I've also tried a couple of their tarts, they're incredible, like little bites of Paris.
Barachou is one of those places that just makes you happy the second you walk in. It's cozy, charming, and smells like heaven straight from the oven.
Coming from Switzerland, I really miss French pastries and the smell of fresh croissants in the morning, so thank you, Barachou, for bringing back those...
Read moreGood cream puff, good macaron but amazing tartelette.
Had the raspberry cream puff which was good but was not a fan of the seasonal chestnut cream puff. Their specialty was apparently the passion fruit. So I tried the passion fruit tartelette and it was very good. The jelly? extract on top was super flavorful and I would def come back for this. The macaron was good but not the best I have had.
Took off a star due to price and chestnut puff. I know NY food is pricey but $3+ for a small cream puff and $6-7 for a 4-5â tart was pretty pricey. Have had beard papaâs big cream puffs are $3 which are pretty good.
Good view with small outdoor seating and mini indoor bar table looking outside. Sweet lady at...
