While traveling completely alone for the first time in my life and from the other side of the country, I was suddenly struck with an absolutely excruciating pain around one of my teeth. I was busy in classes for the workshop I was attending, and when I was finally able to look in my mouth, I realized it was quite swollen. In a panic, I searched for dentists in my network. Normally, I scour through reviews on Google and Yelp when picking anything- especially something related to healthcare (or good pizza). However, I was in so much pain and very limited in options. I felt like I would have to make do with whatever.
Fortunately, it was Treehouse Dental that was able to see me for a 5:00pm appointment on such short notice. I had no idea what was wrong with me, and I was very worried about what I would end up paying. Before doing anything, they closely looked through my insurance with me to make sure there wouldn’t be any unexpected charges. They made sure that we were choosing the cheapest route for me and that there wouldn’t be any unexpected costs for me when I checked out. In less than an hour and a half:
My teeth were examined and x-rayed My options (wisdom tooth removal or antibiotics to help deal with the pain until I made it back to Seattle) were presented. I was calmly talked through the procedure (which was going to be the most major medical procedure I’d ever had, and I was very nervous). My nervous jokes were also kindly laughed at. I was also assured that the laughing gas would be a low enough dose to help me calm down without any lost memories or lack of awareness/control (a concern I had voiced early in the discussion that made me wary of doing anything) I was given time to pick out a movie to watch on the ceiling (Mulan) and calm down/relax before anything began My tooth was completely removed with constant check ins about how I was doing I was given clear care instructions for what to do post surgery. Because I was staying at a hotel, I was even given saline solution to use instead of a salt water rinse I was scheduled for a follow up appointment before I left town at a time that worked perfectly around my schedule.
Additionally, I was checked in with a few hours after my appointment via a text conversation at 9:30 at night (after I missed the phone call) to see how I was doing and have some questions answered.
This could have been such a terrifying experience that ruined my whole week. Instead, I am just so relieved.
Also, I heard the dentist (Dr. Evan) in there with a young child before my appointment. The boy certainly sounded nervous, but the dentist did a great job calming him down and also engaging him in a kid-friendly dialogue about what cavities are and how to avoid them. Everyone (Meybi and Dr. Evan) I interacted with was so kind and knowledgeable.
Please go here if you can; I’m bummed that I’ll be going back to Seattle and unable to use this place as my regular dentist...and I certainly never thought I’d be disappointed about not going to the dentist! Thank you so much to everyone for the compassion, calmness, and general awesomeness shown while...
Read moreUnfortunately during this Covid 19 crisis, I had to have emergency dental work due to an infection and a possible fractured tooth. As I was far away from my regular dentist, I had to call around to find one that was open and willing to take me as a new patient. Thankfully I left random messages with a bunch of offices via phone and email and Treehouse called me back almost instantly. Dr. Evan listened to my history and suggested an Endodontic - Jacobson and Chubak and to try them first. While J&C tried to save my tooth with a root canal and medication, they ended up saying I would need to pull it, so back to Treehouse Dental it was as a possible new patient. As soon as Treehouse Dental got my dental report emailed to them, they contacted me that night via email for an appointment the next day. Wasn’t expecting that as I hadn’t even thought of next steps yet being the procrastinator that I am. Couldn’t believe how fast and helpful Linda the manager was. Although I was initially hesitant to get it done so quickly, it turns out that you never want to mess with an infection and bone. You can just imagine so just do it! So thankful that I did. Dr George was great and all went well. The office is small, clean and professional. They really take a lot of time to explain issues and upcoming procedures and didn’t rush me out. They even took the time to follow up via email a few days later. I’m really impressed with Dr. Evan, Linda and the staff. They take both adults and children. They say it’s about 50/50 for them and a lot of families go there. Smart, caring, helpful and gentle - definitely try this place if you can. Oh and by the way they have a TV mounted on the ceiling so you and your kids will be distracted and entertained while work is getting done. Couldn’t ask for more. And just a suggestion as I was eavesdropping - best to make your appointments now before everybody gets slammed when offices officially re-open....
Read moreGreat experience with my kids. I have a 3.5 and 2 y/o and Dr. Evan and his staff was great.
He was very patient with my children and prioritized their experience over completing the cleaning in a timely manner. Whenever my girls started to get anxious about the cleaning procedure Dr. Evan was very patient and let them touch each tool so that they understood what was happening next. He was telling me that it was important for the children to have a positive, lasting memory so that the next appointments can go smoothly.
I also liked the extra details Dr. Evan used to help facilitate the appointment. He had all the right flavors that my children loved (chocolate toothpaste) and when we entered the room he already had Moana playing on the overhead TV, which really helped calm my children down. I also loved how he gave them a token at the end of the appointment so that they could place it into the gumball machine and get a toy once they finished their appointments.
I know this seems like a small thing, but I really like how responsive Dr. Evan's staff was when booking my appointments and following up with my dental benefits. I had dealt with other pediatric dentists in the past and I cannot tell you how many times I had to call just to get these sorts of things figured out. And when you're a busy mom with young kids, you wanna know that when you pick up the phone to call the office, you'll be able to reach somebody that will be able to assist you with these routine tasks.
And even while spending the extra time to attend to my children's concerns, we still finished the appointment in a very timely manner. Dr. Evan was able to clean both of their teeth in under 30 minutes!
My oldest loved Dr. Evan so much that she is insisting we go back soon so that she can give him one of his drawings as a present. We're totally going to go...
