We came to Barbalu Bklyn just 45 minutes before closing time, not really expecting to be seatedâthere were five of us, and we thought maybe weâd just be allowed to order takeout. But to our surprise and delight, two amazing guys, Matteo and Nick, welcomed us with warm smiles and no hesitation.
They seated us right away, took our full order with zero rush, and the food came out incredibly fastâand even more incredibly delicious! We honestly didnât expect such a perfect experience so late in the evening.
I came specifically for the authentic Italian pizza, and it did not disappoint. Thin, crispy, freshâit was exactly what I was craving. We also ordered the oven-roasted branzino with broccolini, and let me tell youâthe fish was tender and full of flavor, and the vegetables were the best Iâve ever had.
And thenâsomething truly special happened. It was my momâs birthday, and Matteo and Nick surprised us with a beautiful tiramisu topped with a candle and a bottle of champagne, completely on the house. That moment made the whole evening unforgettable.
We left with full hearts, full bellies, and big smiles. This is not just a restaurantâitâs a place where youâre treated like family.
Huge thank you to the staffâyou guys are amazing. 100% recommend Barbalu Bklyn to anyone who wants a truly delicious meal and an experience filled with warmth and joy. Weâll definitely be...
Read moreSERIOUSLY! The food here is DELICIOUS! I have lived in Boerum Hill (on Bergen St, in fact) for over 20 years and I have seen restaurants at this very spot come and go. So I was a bit skeptical to come to Barbalu for dinner. We tend to frequent another Italian restaurant in the neighborhood that seems to get more and more packed and crowded ever time we go. So our friend recommended this restaurant and said it was surprisingly good. So, my wife and I took our friend and her daughter here for dinner on Tuesday night. Well, letâs start with the BEST Classic Margarita-hands down- I have had since Mesa Grill closed. Go for the Happy Hour that runs from 4-7pm and pay only $8. The bread (baked on premises) was fresh, spongy sand crusty. We had to order refills three more times! All the pasta we had were made to perfection. And most, if not all of the pasta, is handmade by Chef Pino. I had the Pasta Carbonara with guacinale and it was perfection. My wife had the Cavetelli with Mushrooms and truffle oil. And my friend was in the mood for shrimp but there was no shrimp on the menu. So the chef made her Shrimp Scampi over Linguine since he had shrimp in the fridge. How fantastic is that!? Nick, our waiter, was super attentive and kind. We finished off the meal with Tiramisu and Marscopone Ice Cream with Candied Walnuts. What a memorable night! We felt we...
Read moreFull disclosure- I didn't have any food from this place.
I chose this restaurant to cater a 15-person event. After calling the restaurant 7 times, I sent an email detailing the order. I was told someone would return my call within the hour. Three hours later, I called again, finally speaking with the owner's son. After repeating the order I'd emailed earlier, he informed me he couldn't process a payment until the next morning. I requested a call by 10 am. (After such unresponsiveness, I needed to be sure the catering was confirmed and thus far, I didn't have any confidence in the staff.) The ownerâs son told me of have to wait until 11:30 to make a payment. Frustrated by the lack of professionalism and overall attitude, I informed him I would choose a different restaurant.
Maybe itâs a decent eat-in restaurant, but for delivery and catering, do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere where it's...
